TAMU Class of 2023 - Admission Decisions/Discussion

My daughter is top 12% of a huge high school, 28 act, 4.0 unweighted. Change major tabs are gone. ?

change of major tabs also gone on howdy & ais. been following this thread since october. if this is PSA very disappointed :frowning:

Galveston is not a PSA school - it is not a system school but a branch of A&M. It is the route my oldest daughter took and requires a separate application and I think the application deadline may have been Friday.

My daughter’s change of major is gone so assuming PSA. Disappointed and wish she would consider other excellent offers she has, but she is determined to be at A&M with her sister. She will likely do PTA, take her courses at Blinn and live in College Station.

Im feeling very down and was wondering what are my best options to transfer to texas a&m ctat after a year? Like will I get in if I go to UH for a year study business and attempt to get a 4.0 gpa and then transfer to lets say mays business? Or should I do the PTA blinn community college route. If I do PTA blinn college can I still live in cstat a&m with my friends. PSA isnt even an option for me since I applied to texas a&m engineering?
Any help is appreciated? I`m so confused right now.

@sma1234 The engineering at Galveston option (and McAllen) are the same program as General Engineering in CStat and you can apply to a major as early as April of Freshman year. As @Scotsfi mentioned, Galveston is not a PSA option. If you want to attend there other than through the engineering admissions decision, you will have to apply to that campus directly.
It is absolutely worth a call to see what your options are are not interested in the engineering path any longer. Explore all of your options and you will find the best fit. Let us know how it goes. Fingers Crossed

@BlueBayouAZ thanks! I was aware of that one. There was mention of one on Howdy as well, but it seems they meant just when you go into AIS through Howdy.

Ours was missing this morning. Now we wait & wonder, since neither of her major choices seems to have a PSA option, I have no idea what this means.

At least it seems we’ll know something soon!

@Mommydoodle - the one in Howdy is when you log into howdy. Click applicant. On the far left is a box with the link to AIS. In the middle is a section called Manage Applications. There is blue words Manage Applications in that section. When you click on that - it lists your active applications. Currently my daughter’s has a box for withdraw and no longer has a change major.

I’m with you - I want this wait over so my daughter will move forward.

@BlueBayouAZ thanks! Good luck to y’all. Let me know how it goes

Update
we are currently in Lubbock and did a tour yesterday. Much to my surprise my daughter just didn’t dig it and furthermore, and even more important they do not have a program that will work for her. Don’t get me wrong it is a nice campus and a great option for anyone that feels like it fits for them. She just feels at home in College Station. So
I “think” the final decision will be PTA at Blinn with transfer to TAMU. Even though we still have our buttons we know it is really over and just waiting for final confirmation. Moving forward!!!

I have questions regarding Blinn Team and was wondering if anyone had experience with that program?

When you click on the Blinn Team link for Pathway Agreements some for 2017 are highlighted, but not 2018. I’m assuming they haven’t been updated for Fall 2019? Just trying to figure out a plan forward.

@Peanie5619 what’s the question? I know there are many on here with team knowledge that would be able to help you!

when you click on “Applicant” in middle row is “manage application”. I looked at it the other day and saw I could change it but today there is no way of changing it. Hope that helps. Good luck

My girl got PSA today. Her change major choice is gone.

@AggieMomhelp My daughter’s first choice major is Biology so she will follow the pathway agreement taking the basic requirements the first two years and then will she be able to move around taking more classes toward Microbiology? I guess I was wondering how much flexibility there is. Also, will the pathway agreements update for 2019? If she decides she wants to teach, would that be a difficult change?

Three years ago when my son was still waiting, his change of major button disappeared and a PSA determination followed one or two days later. Last year, this same thing happened again to others. I think it is pretty reliable. For what it’s worth, my son did straight Blinn and transferred in the next year. Did not do PTA program. Blinn was good. No complaints, except for the lack of parking situation.

Does anyone know if the meal plan is included in the price of the dorm or if it is separate and if it is separate any idea how much the meal plans cost (approx)? Trying to compare on campus with off campus costs. Thanks!!!

@AggieDreamin
The meal plan is separate from dorm cost and can be found here: https://dineoncampus.com/tamu/on-campus-freshmen Lots of plans to choose from. Oh, and I think (but not 100% sure) they charge sales tax for the meal plan purchase so add in 8.25%.

Could the “change major” button being gone also mean you are denied?

Howdy Ags,

I submitted my application as a transfer for Fall 2019 two days before the deadline. The only email I got was from ApplyTexas confirming my application. Texas A&M hasn’t emailed me with my NetID information to see the status of my application. Is that normal? What should I do?

Also, how soon should I expect to hear back?
