TAMU Class of 2023 - Admission Decisions/Discussion

@BlueBayouAZ it’s specifically for Texas community colleges…

Checking for a friend and haven’t followed the details on Engineering but does anyone know if Blinn-Brenham Engineering Academy is full yet? I know it is limited enrollment. He got Pathway options today but only wanted College Station. Was thinking this could be a good option if it is still available but hate to recommend it if it is already full.

Son got an offer for “the three pathways for engineering” (with TEAB not available) finally this morning. However, a while ago he realized that he doesn’t actually want to be a Civil engineer :slight_smile: He had Construction Science (Col of Architecture) listed as second choice major on his application - that’s the one he really wants. Already sent an email to admissions asking what his options are. Obviously, engineering pathways offers are of little interest to him now. Is there a chance he will get into College Station under Construction Science? Presumably less competitive than engineering, maybe they still have spots available?

@AggieDreamin There have been a couple of others posted on here they received the same engineering 3 pathways offer this morning also - but with a TEAB full/not available proviso…?

I’ve been watching this thread for the last month and a half, so I’ll jump in now. This morning my ais & howdy no longer have the option for me to request a change of major. Some people are saying that this means a PSA is coming? My status still says my application is in review… What if your major (biology) doesn’t participate? Can you still be offered PSA?

@Scotsfi I was actually referring to what I believe is a pathway that you apply directly to Blinn-Brenham. I thought I read on here that there was a way to apply directly to Blinn-Brenham as well. When I looked online at their website it says to submit application directly to Blinn. I may have been mistaken.

@biogirl19 I wish I had a good answer for you as many of us are BIMS/Biology and knowing no PSA options are available have wondered how this will work. For now, a few of us still have the change of major option but please keep us posted on what happens with your decision. Good luck!

@biogirl19 neither of my daughter’s choice of majors seem to be a PSA option either so we are also anxiously waiting to see what that mailing button means!

Good luck!

OK, sorry for the Aggie question. I’m wondering why PTA is not a stronger choice over PSA? So for discussion, assume the major is one listed as participating in PTA. If you do what they ask - meet with the counselor and do the 30 hours at Blinn in BCStat, and make the grades in the classes listed in bold on the PTA plan and maintain the listed cumulative GPA, doesn’t this guarantee an admission to A&M? IOW’s, if that is all possible and doable for a particular student, can’t they go to Blinn in BCS, be there with their friends, make the grades AND aren’t they guaranteed admission to both A&M and their major, no “transfer” requirements?

I’m probably missing something here, but it seems to me that if your have a PTA listed degree, you could attend Blinn in BCS, meet the requirements, and be guaranteed entry . . . .

Please let me know if I understand the PTA option clearly. Thanks.

Changed on howdy yesterday. Now change major is gone on Ais. If we click accept are we locked in? I feel like it should now be our turn to keep A&M waiting. 99.9% sure she will not take this route but why not have it as an option.

My daughters AIS and Howdy also have the “change major” button gone this morning. She is applying to AgScience or AgBusiness (as second major). Any ideas what this may mean for her?
Also, does anyone know how long it takes to get an offer when your page has these changes if that is infact what is going on?

@nervoustamumommy I sent you a pm

@TMImomof2 where on Howdy can you find (or did you find in past) the change major option? My daughter’s changed in AIS but I don’t even know where to look for it on Howdy. Thanks!

@IT22379 The year my son applied there was something called Aggie Bound Scholarship. We didn’t apply for it so I only know what I recall from what people said about it on here. Apparently if you had scholarships from outside schools you could apply for that and it seemed they did not match your scholarship but could give you a little more money. If I remember correctly it was an Aggie donor fund that provided these. I remember people saying they called to apply for it and had to provide a scholarship letter from outside school.

@Mommydoodle - It’s at the very bottom of ais. A block. Now my daughter only has one block Cancel/Withdraw application

@Mommydoodle In Howdy (vs direct to AIS), you need to click on the Applicant Tab and get the pull down menu. Go to Manage Applications and then click on the blue link “Manage Applications” then you will see if you still have Change Major and/or Withdrawal Application. It is just a different view of AIS but seems that they don’t update always at the same time for some reason.

I did just that and I have no option to change my major. Is this relevant?

@mrsqster
Just FYI they can withdraw offers. My daughter got TEAM on 2/21 and never responded since she was going somewhere else. Then on 2/28 she got an email to check her status when she logged in it stated the option offered is no longer available. So yes even after making these kids wait in excess of 7 months, they give them no time to consider!

So I got a text this morning to check ais and just got offered the three pathways this morning and unfortunately blinn bryan engineering academy is full. So that leaves me with two other options which Im not really interested at at the moment. Im not really sure about doing engineering anymore so is it possible that I can ask admissions to change my major or give me psa options like texas a&m galveston or blinn team for non engineering majors? :frowning:

@sma1234 I don’t think A&M Galveston is in the PSA system. Check out the PSA link page just to be sure.
