@52AG82
Yeah, that’s why I’m worried about it
I think I can maintain a GPA of 3.54 - 3.85 but I’m worried none the less.
So I think I’ll consider the PTA route a little more as PSA just isn’t something I can do.
Does anyone have more information concerning PTA? Should I just call an admissions counselor? Their webpage for PTA is a little dry bones in regards to explanations…
@Mommydoodle - Visualization in Architecture (Computer animation -at other schools). The program is the first to fill up after MAYS, because it is so small and nationally ranked. Animation Career Review places it in the top 9% in nation ranked 18th. It’s a great program. My daughter has done summer camps there two years.
But UTD also has a nationally ranked program - that has been climbing every year. It’s ranked in the top 20% nationally at 41 - Now above University of Pennsylvania and Florida State.
@dyinginhs we personally know kids who have had 4.0 at Blinn, and never got into TAMU. There will be an over abundance of kids trying to transfer in, the next 1-2 years, many who normally would’ve gotten Full acceptance into A&M. You’ll be competing with those kids. Read the links Thelma and others have posted before making a decision.
@DestinationTAMU on ais tamu will tell you they are offering PSA. Then it will list the schools that participate in your daughters major. You’ll select which college and tamu will do the rest. I’ve been there with my own.
@AggieMomhelp in regards to @DestinationTAMU - how long after the absence of change major will the PSA show up? Has anyone who had an absence of change major seen anything different this morning, or are we safe to stay off of Howdy until Tuesday?
@2xAggieMom@AggieMomhelp - thank you for the information regarding Business GS. Really appreciate all your help!!!
So I am looking on PSA info & it appears neither of my daughter’s major selections (Business admin is 1st; Nutrition- Ag & Life Sciences is 2nd) are listed as PSA options/majors.
So if she’s not a PSA candidate, what could the disappearance of her “change major” button indicate?
@dyinginhs@52AG82 We are trying to assess PTA vs Transfer too. Her original major was BIMS so no PSA option anyway. However, she discovered the Psychology BS major and loves the curriculum and she can still get the science she needs for med school. That being said, the way the materials read, PTA does not allow you to use your AP credits to fulfill the required courses. In that major there are only 3 required and she has 2 as AP so real bummer to have to retake them. Therefore, leaning toward straight transfer but I had not heard of people not getting in with good grades.
@libbyshims I’m viewing this on my phone so going back to look is a pain and i need coffee lol. But I think the ones that have received changed within a day. Like even during the day. But I’m going off memory and again, no coffee lol.
And if you can’t find the link on US studies bus. Let me know. Econ is another great route.
Hello guys! I have given up on TAMU and will be committing to UTSA. I say down and wondered why i even wanted to go to A&M and it really was just to follow tradition. UTSA is the perfect environment for me.
@52AG82
Well if that’s the case, I’ll look into PTA.
I shot admissions an email, and I’ll see if I hear anything back next week. I think I may try and call admissions Monday…
I’ll ask counselors at Blinn if they know the specifics of PTA too… As I’ve already applied and been accepted to Bryan.
I got offered the three pathways for engineering this morning but blinn Bryan is no longer available. Is it possible that the pathway open up again if others don’t go that pathway?
@AggieDreamin at least 1 friend had a 4.0 and couldn’t get in to A&M. Another had strong grades, couldn’t get in, and is now at Sam Houston. Just like this year, there will be an over saturation of applications to transfer in, and many of those kids come from very strong academic backgrounds, high test scores. There is only so much room on campus, and A&M will be obligated to give spots to kids with guarantees coming in.
I think transferring in, at least the next 1-2 years, will be tough, especially coming from a community college.
I am not an expert, don’t know any numbers or stats, but just by following this thread shows how tough it’ll be.
@scoringduck It seems strange you’re being offered an option that’s full but maybe the 3 engineering pathways come as a package now just with the proviso that one of the pathways is no longer available. This ‘select a destination’ engineering option has been out for some while now so I’d take it that TEAB/Blinn Bryan has been a popular selection choice so there’s just no more spots and will not open up again.
@52AG82 Thank you for the information. My daughter just told me she is ok to retake the classes to assure admittance to A&M. I was a little surprised but after all this she doesn’t want to take the chance. Maybe there will be an elective she can use that AP Calculus credit toward…LOL.
@lulu9002
I am so happy for you. I’m glad this stressful experience ended up bringing everything into perspective. Now you finally know and get to be excited about college! We looked into UTSA also and it sounds like a great school in a really fun area too!
Good luck to you!
