TAMU Class of 2023 - Admission Decisions/Discussion

Change major is now gone from BOTH AIS and Manage Applications. Yesterday it was just missing in Manage Applications. I assume they are just figuring out options.

Haha! Us! My daughter lost her change major tab this morning, she was accepted to Walton Business and had been highly recruited by them. Hand written letters, emails etc. We will attend the reception here in Houston tomorrow. It feels good to send her to a program that really seems to want her. It’s a beautiful school with a decent reputation. I’m sure she will thrive.

How will my daughter officially know she has received PSA? Will it come in an email or will it be on AIS?

I have both of my change major/ withdraw application buttons
 is that good ?

What’s left to be given out? Just PSA?

Both the howdy and AIS change major buttons are gone now for my daughter’s account. In years past @camyrd that has meant PSA is coming.

It seems like mainly PSA @camyrd - but there are a few people, who did not have the change of major button go away - that seem to be getting engineering academy offers. But nobody knows for sure. There could be some gateway offers still out there. We just don’t know.

Major change button is gone, guess I’m getting PSA’d
That’s okay though, Blinn strait it is!

I hope transferring from Blinn to a&m doesn’t get impossibly hard within the next year
I’m almost tempted to try the PTA route but it seems like a lot of headache and paperwork and I’m confused as to when the deadline officially is

My daughter’s change major button is gone this morning. Whatever that ends up meaning, at least it seems the end is near which will be a relief!

She & I had a long talk last night, with some tears (mainly, she said, because this waiting is extremely stressful & she just wants to know one way or another). We discussed her other option, to which she was admitted months ago as well.

Bottom line, she said she wants to be an Aggie & says she will take whatever path they offer to make that happen. So here’s hoping we know what that path is in the next few days!

My daughter’s change major button disappeared overnight. Not sure if she will accept PSA, though. Lots for her to think about.

Yesterday one of her best friends got PSA as well, so at least she will have someone her own age to commiserate with.

Good Morning, In your experience those that have kids at TAMU if you are given Gateway does that mean that when you enter the fall you are not qualified for any Aid or scholarships? I was just curious my son got a great scholarship at a different school but not sure about what TAMU can or will give up if he gets Gateway. Thank you

also sorry kinda of a weird question because I have heard someone do this and this is our first child going to college. Has anyone heard if TAMU does some type of matching other schools scholarship offers?

@dyinginhs We have known many kids from our high school who just go straight to Blinn
and haven’t gotten in. They’ve all had to transfer to Sam Houston after 2 years, even with good grades. Think long and hard before turning down PSA. At least with PSA you’re at a real campus, not just community college.

@Mommydoodle - I’m with you on the wait being the hardest part. My daughter still won’t hit the accept button on her backup school until she has an official decision from TAMU. Though we already have a non refundable housing deposit down.

PSA is just not ideal for her choice of major. The math and science academic requirements are actually more intense in PSA than the main campus (they expect Math 151, 152 and Physics to be among the first 24 hours) On campus - the common degree plan has two of those completed freshman year and one sophomore. And her degree has classes offered in sequence - that you can’t start taking until you are at the main campus.

The decisions are hard.

@BlueBayouAZ what is her major?

My daughter’s first two are wildly different - her first choice is Accounting (so business) and second is nutrition.

I don’t even know if they offer PSA for both. We honestly hadn’t even looked at that because we thought she would at least get Blinn-TEAM.

@IT22379 TAMU does not match scholarship money. All merit scholarships have been given out, with some college/major specific scholarships left. I definitely wouldn’t count on getting any scholarships-they are few & far between.
If your son got a great scholarship from another school, you may want to weigh your options. Gateway program averages $4-5,000, per people who have done it in summers past. Then regular tuition/housing/fees for the 2019 school year start in August.

I know in years past the absence of change major button meant PSA was coming
however, since NOTHING has been like it has in past years, I am still holding my breath until we get the official PSA offer. Spoke to my son last night and he said he would most likely take PSA as it is a full TAMU school and he would only be there a year. He is wanting business/accounting, but at the advice of his counselor applied under PoliSci / Econ (BS). Someone had mentioned on here you can be in another major yet still get a business degree from TAMU just not with Mays on the degree. Did I read that correctly? @Thelma2 @AggieMomhelp can you point me to the right area if possible? Thanks so much.

@IT22379 we had a friend whose son was offered several really large agriculture scholarships at another school. They talked to A&M and A&M increased their scholarship offers but did not match them. This student was top 10% and had his acceptance very early in the year so I don’t know if he was bargaining when A&M had more money to give or not.

@libbyshims it’s called university studies business. You take classes in mays. It’s 24 credits of business and then 2 minors. It’s not offered through PSA though. It’s a wonderful program. I would just apply as transfer when possible.

@libbyshims I had friends at A&M who got degrees in AgEconomics who ended up with jobs unrelated to Agriculture. It is another way to get a business degree. A lot of their classes are also in Mays and it is listed on the PSA page.
