@Hannahrk AP credit may apply. I don’t know what major you are applying for so I would carefully read the transfer requirements and see if it specifies. For instance, in Psychology AP is applicable. If it doesn’t say I would call the advisor and ask.
@AggieDreamin Howdy, just wondering when I could expect a decision on my transfer for the fall. Asking anyone who may have an idea but you seem to know what you’re talking about. I’m applying for Human Resource Development/Fall 2020. I have a 2.91 GPA (I had extenuating circumstances early on in college) with 56 credit hours and all required coursework done and most all of the first two years coursework done. Appreciate anyone’s input on my chances/when I could hear back. Got my Transfer Audit at the end of January. Thanks!
@jgaecke It’s great that you have all required coursework complete at time of application and that the first 2 years are done. If you have shown an upward trend in GPA and explained your extenuating circumstance in your essay, then they could grant you admission. Your GPA is above minimum, but typically most of the majors look for above a 3.0 to a 3.3 minimum. Not sure about HRD, but I know it’s a growing major and feels closely related to business degree.
Best of luck and please keep us posted. Hope you get the “Welcome to Aggieland” status soon.
@jgaecke I am not an expert for sure but went through last years admission process with my daughter and learned a lot about the process. Although I have to admit this year for regular Freshman admissions was very different from last year. I think that Transfer admissions is fairly straight forward. I couldn’t tell you anything definitive but it is good you have all your requirements and won’t need to wait for Spring grades. The minimum GPA is 2.75 so you are barely over that which is good but I am not sure how competitive that major is so hard to honestly tell. Unfortunately, meeting the minimum is not a guarantee. Did you go into detail in your essay about the extenuating circumstances in HS? I would assume they will take that into consideration with regard to your GPA. As far as timing for decision, anyone’s guess. I looked back at last year and seemed that for Liberal Arts (which of course was different from Education & Human Development) it seemed that some were getting answers in about 2 weeks. However, for some majors it drug on much longer. I wish I could provide you some more definitive answers. Best of luck!!!
Thanks for y’all’s input. My GPA is definitely on an upward trend. After my DC classes in high school and my first semester at a community college my GPA was all the way down to a 1.8. Since then, in my last 2 semesters and last summer I have had a 3.78 bringing my cumulative to the 2.91 it is now. I did go into detail about the circumstance and how much I have come from that. The major isn’t very competitive, it was a 2.5 minimum last year and changed to 2.75 preferred now. I’m just worried about not hearing for a while and signing a lease for next year and such.
How do we know if our denial letter is just deferring for spring grades or a true denial?
Has anyone received an admissions decision from Mays business school for fall 2020?
Howdy. I have a 3.86 GPA with 47 hours and applied to Agriculture Economics, What are my chances? I’m currently in progress of one of the required courses but it should be an easy A. I own 3 business’ that all have done well for me and I highlighted these in my essay and explained how getting this degree would help to advance them and make my life better. Thanks
@hannahrk it will be very specific. You’ve been denied or you’ve been deferred.
@Aggiegirl2022 i don’t think I’ve seen any mays for fall yet. Last year I think they found out late feb or early March. There was a thread for transfers if you’re interested to see how you compare on stats.
@gigem33 you’ll be fine. Ag Econ isn’t competitive. Even if it were, you would still be okay. Great work. Keep it up!
Hang in there, all of you!!!
@AggieMomhelp, I just got deferred for spring grades. I applied for the interdisciplinary studies teaching major in the college of education. I have a 3.75 and 68 credits. I got deferred because I am currently taking Math 140, I have math 142 and the two sciences. I just wanted to know if I should be worried, I was thinking as long as I get a B or higher I should be okay. Any advice? Also you’re the bomb dot com for helping college students like this.
My daughter didn’t get in to A&M last year as a review, but has applied as a transfer this year.
She has green checkmarks for all her required docs & her 2 transcripts (1 from DC in HS and one from current university) have checkmarks now instead of saying “has been received but not processed” with the yellow sign. Her status is “My application is complete and in review”
However, we don’t see a transfer audit? Does that come a bit after the green checks on transcripts? Additionally, her change major button is gone.
And her chances? She wants to transfer into Communications. Currently has a 4.0 from both DC in HS and fall semester (hopefully audit will reflect that) and has completed required coursework.
We are reluctant to get her hopes up as last year we thought she’d at least get Blinn Team and did not (Top 15% of class, 1330 SAT Score - just missed that auto admission). At that time, she was so disappointed she said she’d never try again, but here we are a year later and it’s still her dream to go there, so she’s giving it a whirl!
That’s very strange. I got blinn team for fall 2018 and had way worse stats then her from high school. I was too 23% of my class.
@Aggiegirl2022 She knew many from her HS that did as well. It seemed much of admissions last year was strange. We’re hopeful this year has better results.
Yeah I also got a 1200 on my SAT so that’s a shame for your daughter. The transfer audit comes about 2 or 3 days later after all the check marks.
@hopingtobeaggiemom If I remember correctly, the audit will be on Howdy under Manage Applications. It may be different but that’s what I remember. It was not on AIS I do know that.
So all required coursework is completed you said… nothing in progress, right?
@AggieMomhelp correct. Communications doesn’t have a large “required” coursework but it’s all completed already. And I know she has the GPA covered.
It isn’t under “Manage Applications” either but we’ll give it a couple days to show up before we’re concerned. After last year, she’s just a little anxious.
Sounds like she won’t have to worry about much! Hope the audit pops up soon to alleviate the stress. Please keep us posted!
Did she apply for Fall or summer admission? Doesn’t matter, I’m just curious.
@AggieMomhelp Fall
I got a “Transfer Deny” letter because my GPA came in at a 2.48. It says in the letter to send in my “spring grades” by June 1st to be reviewed again for admission. Is this being deferred? Do people have a pretty good chance at admission when this happens? i have had a 4.0 for 22 hours now and I am going in with 60 hours that transfer. I am also a member of PTK and have recommendations. Major is Range and Ecology. Ag college.
Does anyone know when agriculture systems management should receive their admission decision?
