I agree, I have a software engineer and an architect (recently promoted from software engineer) on my team who have EE degrees (Rice and UT respectively). Personally speaking it is not at all uncommon to have software engineers aka develops that have a diverse background, even I come from Electronics Engineering Technology.
The college experience is meant to be that an experience. At the end of the day as your career advances, the what on your degree becomes less and less important, and you will have an opportunity to explore other paths in life that may or may not have any semblance to your college field of study.
Use this time to open your mind and learn about yourself.
Hello, I am applying to communications and my application is still
in review. I took a May-Mester class which still had not been updated into their system so I am patiently waiting for that. Any guesses on how long that will take?
I’ve heard that the deadline is July 1st. But also that they’ve even pushed that back to mid-July. Just hang in there.
Has anyone received a decision within the last few days from the college of engineering?
@nialexander0138 I’m still waiting. The admission office people told me decisions will be released by end of June. But I also read from other posts saying the deadline for engineering college is somehow July 6th. Hang in there. Only ten more days at most!
I received my 6 tabs early Monday morning and my acceptance later that afternoon. I was admitted into my first choice major (Psychology BS). I signed up for PTA and completed the 30 hours at Blinn.
When I signed up or NSC the last conference date is July 16-17th. I’ve browsed through many courses and noticed there aren’t very many left. Several course numbers are entirely full. I’m very nervous my schedule will not work out. I’m trying to complete the prerequisites for medical school to become a psychiatrist and neurologist through a dual residency.
Here are my transfer stats:
37 credit hours
4.0 GPA
I received my 6 tabs this morning. My audit was posted 6/11. My major is ESET Engineering.
@hannasrack your schedule will work out. They are working on the schedules daily since transitioning to having more classes/fewer students/hybrid method. All the classes my son registered for in April, will be redesigned to incorporate all of this as well as the 30 minute passing periods (used to be 20). All this to say, you’re not alone. Also, psychology has some of the best advisors. Talk to Lisa Bowden if you can. She is extremely helpful and if not her, then I promise you will still be taken care of!!! Congrats and welcome to Aggieland.
Does anyone know how the Corps of Cadets/Band will work in the fall?, I’m worried I’m not going to get a great experience as a fish, joining the corps at such a strange time. …is it worth it anymore?
COVID is making things just seem almost Impossible to work. It is hard to be optimistic.
This is what I’ve wanted for a very long time, but now I’m dreading joining and then not ever fitting in because of how strange my fish semester was. What’s the point in going in the fall, if all I’m going to ((maybe)) just sit in my dorm room? at that point, I could’ve just joined or transferred in my junior year.
if anyone has any answers or knows anyone who would. Please let me know.
@GabrielRojo i hear you. I know these are such uncertain times but just know you are not alone. As I tell my children… plan for the best and pivot when you have to. If joining the corps is an option and what you want, then come join and meet other fish that are going through the same thing. It’ll build great and unique bonds.
For now, Tamu is opening in the fall. Plan on being a part of it.
@hannasrack My daughter was an early acceptance Psychology BS because she had all the requirements after Fall. She was in the first NSC session. Her advisor sent her a degree plan marked up with what she had already from AP, DC and Blinn but she could not communicate at all with the advisor prior to NSC. You will be put into a couple of required classes by your advisor and other sections will open up so don’t stress. I think the advisor even had some “reserved” slots in some key classes to offer. You still might go through and check for classes you want based on the degree plan and look up professors if you want. There may not be a lot availability but just get a base schedule in place and they say you can move stuff around when open enrollment happens in Aug. You’ve got this
I I received my 6 tabs this morning. Is this good??
@heyhey17 Yes! It means you’ve been accepted!
Anyone know if us “spring grade review” transfers are going to get one of those “newest Aggie” fold out banners?
@Tristan23 We do
Have any construction science majors received a decision yet?
Hey everyone!
I go to Blinn - Bryan, and I had a very rough first semester, like I was dumb enough to fail a class and get C’s on two others. I know. But I had serious issues going on. anyways, right now I have a 3.03 gpa and 30 credit hours. after I retook the class I failed and got an A
I am planning to apply for transfer fall (2021) that way I can boost my gpa next semester, I am taking classes that will be easy A’s, and I will have a 3.35 gpa and about 45 credits by the end of next semester (The Time of Application), and I have all the requirements for computer science done. and I took Calc 3, and chem 2 and a programming course. Do you guys think have a chance to transfer to TAMU computer science? Like if i show my upward projection in grades, and a very well constructed essay?
