Transfer Students for Texas A&M University

Howdy Future Ags, please ask any questions you may have for the application (hide and wait) process.

Tamu has been off so you probably will get the info this coming week or next. From there you will see what has been received etc.

Im assuming you have all the required courses for transfer?

Best of luck and keep us posted!!

Okay good to know! I do have all the required courses completed, as well as transcripts are on the way. Hoping all goes well :folded_hands:

Hello! I am a external transfer applicant to Mays Business School, specifically BUSI and I definitely have a lot of questions! I applied January 1st with a 4.0 GPA, all my required coursework is already completed, I believe my SOP is strong and I have leadership positions in my EC’s. Ive seen you on this thread for a while and was wondering if you ever seen someone with similar stats be turned away simply based on how competitive Mays is. I also noticed that on the upload documents section in AIS there is a option to submit a resume and Letters of Recommendation, would these strengthen my application? Additionally, I am very curious with what the timeline is like and about when I could expect to hear back. Thank you so much!

You have an excellent chance at being accepted. You have done everything right with the timing of app, your GPA, course requirements completed, etc. I don’t know how quickly they will make ext. transfer decisions. Maybe set the expectation to mid Feb. Could be earlier, but it wouldn’t be out of the ordinary to be later.

Hang in there. You’ve done the work. You’ve excelled. They’ll see that. If you want to upload resume and LOR, that can’t hurt but not sure how much it will help. If you’ve got the time and a good LOR, do it.

Please come back later and share the good news.

For mays transfer, if I have a 4.0 but prob deferred due to lack of credits(first year at another college), are my chances of getting in slim?

How many credits do you lack? And how many required courses do you lack?

Hi. I got AIS access on 1/7 and as of today (1/12) have everything checked off on my checklist and have an academic record on Howdy (no calculated GPA or audit yet). My app status got changed from “My App is Incomplete” to “Your credentials are currently being processed for review; please continue to check here because your checklisr may be updated.”… and Howdy now says under manage applications that I am under review. Was wondering what the AIS message means, does it mean an audit or decision will happen soon? Also applied BUAD btw!

Your GPA audit will happen first. It will provide all courses that transfer and what course it transfers to at tamu. At the top will be your transfer gpa.

Then it gets reviewed and decision made. No clue on timeline. Freshman admissions is still going on as well and the bulk of those who applied, haven’t received their decision yet.

Okay! Thank you so much for the info

Hi Christi.

I am an external transfer currently at Blinn taking Spring 2026 classes. I applied Dec 18th for Fall 2026 transfer on Apply Texas to Agriculture Leadership & Development. I have a 3.89 GPA with 54 hours complete, will all core curriculum completed. I am taking 12 hours at Blinn currently (Ag ECON and Agronomy included). I met with a TAMU Ag Counselor December 2024 who guided me through the Transfer Sheets and I am on track for transferrable credits. I am a non-traditional student as I have been out of high school for 30+ years, but going back for a TAMU degree. I have a strong SOP essay and as a Texas landowner, showed my connection with the Ag community.
Currently, AIS has all green checks and application is under review. I have requested two LOR and uploaded my resume. I realize the timeline is uncertain with rolling admissions.
Could you please project some insight to how competitive my application stands vs. incoming freshman/transfer traditional students? Thank you very much!

You should have zero issues getting in. Great application and unique. Best of luck. Should hear back before March but honeslty there is no telling.

Hi! I am an external transfer applicant for the Mays Business School program, and I have just a few questions! I applied on January 1st with a 3.94, all my required coursework completed, and coming from a collegiate sport, softball. I have noticed that you have been a great person to turn to for inquisition about applications. I was wondering with how competitive the Mays program is and the new cap of admissions, if that will greatly affect the transfer applications? I was also wondering if having a transfer audit in the Howdy portal is a good sign that a decision will be made soon?

Howdy! The transfer audit is one of the first steps. Do you have all of the required courses complete? Did the audit show 3.94 or is that from your current school?

Yes ma’am I have all of the required courses completed! The 3.94 is from my current school, the transfer audit shows that I have a 3.85!

What did you put down for 2nd choice?

And yes… they’ll go off the 3.85 for consideration. Great GPA. Just wanted to make sure you knew it will not be based odd the 3.94.

My second choice is the Arts and Science program for Communications!

Hello! I wanted to share the good news that I got admitted this evening for BUSI  Thank you so much for your insight and giving me reassurance when I needed it!

Welcome to Aggieland!!!

Hello! I also got admitted to Mays (external transfer). I was wondering if anyone here has good off-campus housing suggestions that are in biking distance to west campus. My main priority is distance, don’t really have a set budget yet but preferably under $1200
