TAMU Holistic review candidates Class of 2022

Holistic review is a subjective process, subject to the opinions of the admissions office. It’s sort of like a teacher who grades an essay. You may think you deserved a higher grade, but different professors see and want to see different things. They are not comparing apples to apples, and you never know what’s going to stand out to the “grader”. You also probably don’t have any idea how your friends essays compared.

TXAgghopeful1 - many people have been writing the same type of thing, but here it goes. I think you should hang in there . It looks like the BIMS program is really unique. At the other schools you have been accepted to, don’t you have until 5/1 to commit? Figure out your backup plan and possible even put a deposit down on housing at your backup school if that is a concern. Then what do you really have to lose by waiting for a response from A&M. My daughter’s graduating class of about 500 have started a spreadsheet of where they are going to school. Only 20 have made a decision, as they are still waiting on a response from some school or other. I think you are in the majority, not the minority!

@kaydeeloo I understand that & thank you for your input…but as someone whose applied way back in August & I still have to wait…it’s ridiculous. I had all 3 essays edited by college professors, with 100+ hours of Community service, 3 outstanding letters of rec, I made the Texas All State Choir, 2 musicals, and much much more.

Unable to log into AIS saying server may be busy? anyone else?

Same here but says “connection lost” but I can pull up other non tamu sites

I understand what you’re going through because I went through it with my son last year. It’s a LONG process, but will be over soon and you’ll go on to greatness whichever road you end up taking.

same mine says it dropped the connection and that it happens when the server is busy

It’s working now

Well any updates? I doubt it

Back up and no updates for us.

@babymomma @paag1234 would you mind sharing your stats?

Hi all,

We are also waiting to hear back on DD’s app for BIMS. In the meantime, I wanted to weigh in on the PSA offering. My oldest was offered this route 2 years ago and was initially pretty disappointed. She REALLY wanted to be an Aggie though and thankfully we found her major was available through the program.

She ended up attending the first year at Commerce, which turned out to be a good thing for her. She got used to college life, rushed a sorority and made great grades! She met many others also doing the program and there were actually quite a few that chose to stay and finish their degree in Commerce. She’s now at CStat, has re-affiliated with her sorority, joined a leadership organization, and is doing great with her academics there too. The transition is a little bit strange as the campus she attended only had 6,000 students and it was easier to do just about everything (getting to class, making friends, connecting with professors), including joining in on things. Another poster wasn’t kidding when they advised to get used to CStat’s competitiveness, you have to apply and interview just to join clubs and many who apply don’t get in to anything. I always tell her she’ll be great at “adulting” by the time she graduates!

Good luck everyone!

Thank you Thelma. He applied to Tarleton and was accepted back in October in case he was offered TSA.
He was also accepted to Texas Tech, UNT, TCU and U of Colorado. He plans to do ROTC, (wanted to be in the Corp) and is a first generation with a 1300 SAT and 3.8 GPA, (10 AP classes) but is only top 35% out of class of 900.
He did all three essays but did not apply until Jan 1st. I’m thinking his class rank is hurting him. Luckily he has several great options. He just doesn’t want to discuss where he wants to go it’s a no from TAMU. I guess I’m trying to figure out if no news means he needs to start narrowing it down.

My son just got his acceptance for Engineering Academy at Blinn. He submitted October 15,
3 essays,
ACT 32,
class rank was 2nd quarter.

It was the 1st of 10 schools he applied to and the last to send a decision. He’s leaning towards UTA because of scholarship.

deleted. Repeat post.

@trinley This happened to me today as well. Application is still in review though. What does this mean?

@Heather7 UTA does give some great scholarship and they have a great engineering school. The benefit, is you are admitted directly to major vs applying to major with no guarantee below a 3.5, though the majority get their first or second choice at A&M. UTA has a great relationship with Lockheed Martin.

@sbk90078 What happened to you today?

@Thelma2 I logged into my AIS portal and at the top it has your major and other information above where it says My app is complete and in review. besides my major it says general engineering and the location is saying Galveston

Good luck to everyone!
