That’s a more encouraging answer from Joseph
Been reading for awhile, but first post. My daughter received the McAllen location with FSIM changed on her major this morning too. Her first choice was Nutrition and second Health and Education. The major changed yesterday am when we checked. Then, we received 6 tabs this morning, but I also noticed the location change to McAllen. I have called admission and chatted with “Joseph” today too. I will follow the new post (Thank you @Thelma2!).
I was told by both to wait until AIS completely updates before doing anything else. If it remains McAllen, I was told you either accept this offer or deny. There are no appeals since you were admitted to the university, and that changing the major would not make a difference at this point. She could also accept and transfer after a semester. She could also reapply for the spring semester to CS.
Hoping for more info tomorrow. It will be a no for her, if the only option is McAllen. Good luck everyone!

Thank you for that information. Please post to the McAllen thread whatever you learn, please. In addition, do you and @Mammabear1 mind sharing your applicant’s stats?
It’s very quiet today. Must not be any decisions or updates. We are starting to lose hope.
@mamma3g Ag Communications & Journalism; 2nd choice Ag Leadership & Development
No changes
Applied Dec 1
My son was Ag Econ with Applied Math for his second choice.
When McAllen appeared, his major changed to FSIM (food system industry management).
What were they even thinking? They put him in a major that has nothing to do with his first and second choices in my opinion. I’m starting to get the impression that they are just trying to admit as many as possible just to make a buck.

Originally he applied as a business major. Once he discovered Mays was full, he decided to change the major.
He applied and wAs given full admissions to Galveston. Was advised he could go there for a semester and then do a change of major and move to College Station.
MCAllen wouldn’t be terrible…but I think students will miss out on the college experience. There is NO student life there.
Haven’t heard anything back yet hoping to hear soon. Here are my major choices 1. Biology 2. Biomedical Sciences. I’ve noticed a lot of sciences haven’t heard back yet, including friends.
My son also received full acceptance to Galveston. I may be wrong, but I think they told us during our tour that you need 24 hours to trAnsfer to cstat.
@cottoncandy1
I think it depends on the major. Just checked…for Ag Business, it is only 12.
Chatted with Debbie on the live chat thing… thought I’d relay what she said.
She said some decisions will be sent out tomorrow. But that most decisions will be dispersed from now until what could be late March. I know:(
Also asked about how an applicant is admitted if their first major is full. Mine is business and my second is English. She said that they are immediately considered for their second major before Blinn placement.
An additional question I have for anyone that has an answer… does it not seem like the Blinn route is easier for transferring into Mays than switching majors from man campus? If what I’ve read/learned is correct, only 100 applicants are admitted for a change in major on main campus with a handful of classes needed and a minimum of a 3.5 GPA to be taken into consideration. Whereas Blinn needs a 3.8 and a handful of classes to automatically be transferred into Mays. Idk… Blinn route sounds easier to me and the route from switching majors sounds crazy competitive because if 3.5 is the minimum then you really need a 3.8 to even be in competition with other applicants.
Does gateway get the A&M banner?
@Kuehne410 I have seen many change majors into Mays from Ag Bus and Econ with a lower GPA than 3.5 as recently as last semester. Keep in mind that Blinn is no joke. The classes are hard and while, yes they are smaller in numbers, they aren’t easy. If I were advising… I’d say get on TAMU campus as soon as possible and not worry about the transfer aspect of it and just focus on the change of major. There are so many routes that will include Mays courses in the curriculum. Just my opinion.
Also… you can be at TAMU and still choose to take some courses at Blinn as a transient student. You don’t have to be on Blinn Team to do that.
Geology, Forensic Investigative Science
Applied Mathematical Sciences, Geology
civil engineering, industrial engineering… starting to get nervous
From “Steve” just now “Many freshmen review decisions by Admissions went out last week. They will continue from now until sometime in March. You may be reviewed multiple times before a decision is made. We did not know your competition for Review Admits until the deadline passed on January 10. With 43,000 freshmen applications alone, there are a lot of different types of offers being made. When we make a decision on your application, you will be able to see it on your AIS page.”
Are Blinn offers made to OOS students?
