i had the same problem, and only with google chrome. if i used bing to access this site from my phone, i didn’t have a problem. but google chrome showed me span pop ups and told me i had a virus
I have quit checking CC on my phone due to all of the insane pop-ups. I am usually attempting to access it by clicking on the link in an email notification, which opens CC in Safari, I think.
Pop ups here too.
Another question…does anyone have experience with the appeals process? How long does that normally take? Thanks!
Hope everyone hears something soon! I can’t stop cheering in my head for all of you who have yet to hear anything and checking here hoping you all have good news!
Have a good weekend everyone! Try not to stress out about your decision. I hope everyone hears soon!
Thank you! I am obsessively refreshing my Howdy page and this thread for any bit of news.
Yes to the amazon pop up. I hit the back deal twice and it goes back to CC.
Just get a job, when I first got hired at SeaWorld my mom was angry, but she couldnt stop me from continuing the process. It was difficult figuring out the forms and such, but it was well worth it. And now she’s happy and glad I took the initiative to pay for my own stuff. Ive paid for egery aspect of my senior year. I was afraid to get a job junior because i didnt know anything. But the I winged it late junior year if I wanted changes to happen lol and Im doing pretty well
For those still waiting, what day did you apply? What day did you activate your Howdy account? My son applied January 1, and did not activate his euin number until Jan 17 because it was going in to his spam folder. He is second quarter, 3.8 GPA, 1300 SAT, 3 essays, average involvement and lots of community service, 5 AP classes (seemed like more). He will be a double major in English and Russian. He indicated he will be in the Corp. He is in ROTC now. He has been admitted to 4 other schools, applied to honors at one and was accepted. I’m wondering if it’s the late but still on time application that is the delay. I can’t seem to get him to discuss the other schools, so I’m putting down deposits and signing him up for orientation anyway. He is also a first generation college student. I got married after my junior year, and did not go back for my senior year. My late husband had 2 years of college and went to technical school for computer software training and was an IT Mgr. My oldest 3 all have their degrees, one their Masters, and I also have a sophomore at Tarleton on the deans list. Just wondering what all they consider. I also feel guilty that I told him his essays while technically correct and written in AP format did not tell me much about him personally. Challenges of losing father at age 2. Growing up youngest of 5 of now single mother. He was not as happy with the essays after the inclusion, and says now he wishes he had ignored me.
@stimmer64 - welcome to the board. I am not the expert on the board but can tell you there are very qualified candidates that applied early who are still waiting for a decision. Simply put, there are over 40,000 applicants for about 17,000 at College Station. I highly recommend reading past posts starting about January 1. You will learn s lot from our more knowledgeable posters. Good luck. Several of us have deposits at our backup schools now. If your son really wants to go to TAMU then there are always ways to transfer in after a few semesters!
My son stopped talking after his father died and did not begin speaking again until age 5. He and his brother who was 5 at the time were home alone with their dad (I was at the grocery store) when my husband’s heart stopped. They watched their father die. My son became very shy of strangers and avoided involvement in school activities (except choir and church activities. He had very few friends. This last year and a half, after joining ROTC, he has really blossomed. He has put himself out there and finally has a normal social life and is busy with school activities daily outside of class. I wanted to explain if it seems like I am overly involved. I just want him to continue on his growth path. I believe he immediately felt comfortable in the Corp setting, and thinks he can’t find that anywhere else. He might be right.
@Stimmer64 : Oh, my heart goes out to you and your family. What a traumatizing loss for all of you. I can understand why you would want him to include some of that info in his essays and I would think that info would be just what TAMU would want to know. The fact that your son has grown up to be able to join ROTC and make great grades in spite of the trauma of being a 2 year old and watching his father die shows that he has resiliency and inner strength. Those characteristics are very valuable.
I would think that at least he would be offered either Gateway or Blinn-TEAM. If he is offered PSA or denied, PLEASE appeal that decision and make sure that he includes more info on the trauma of his early years and how ROTC has impacted his life when he writes the appeal.
But also realize that the Corp at TAMU is much much more intense than ROTC at a HS. If he has the opportunity to take part in any event that the Corp has available before graduation, that would be a good idea.
Our daughter’s extenuating circumstances were much less traumatic, but I think that including even a short mention of that experience on her application may have helped the TAMU holistic reviewers to want my daughter enough to offer her Blinn-TEAM for Fall 2017. My daughter did not want to include the info about her concussion on her application as she did NOT want to be “different”, but I insisted that she include the info on that “extra question” on the application. She only wrote a few sentences but did mention that the after effects of a concussion impacted her grades in 9th and 10 grade (one C in one Semester of each year in a Pre-AP Math or Science class).
My daughter suffered a concussion at school in Nov. of her 8th grade. She missed 2 months of school (and missed more months before she was cleared to return to a very physical extra curricular activity) and finished the 8th grade with special accommodations. We had to drop her out of Algebra I after the concussion as it was a HS class and her Doctors said that trying to catch up would be too stressful for her brain and her math skills would be the last to come back. She had a difficult Freshman year, and the very deep sleep need and fatigue and difficulty focusing continued through HS. She learned to manage her time and her health and graduated with a 3.5 unweighted/4.7 weighted gpa but only a 53% rank (extremely competitive HS), along with being on a very time consuming EC team on campus and another competitive EC team off campus.
I think that the concussion contributed to her having only 580 Math score on the SAT as she was a Duke Tips student and an above average Math student before the concussion. As she got older, she didn’t want to talk about what was different after the concussion as she didn’t want to be “different”, as there was no “cure” for whatever mental/emotional/physical skills/abilities/potential that she lost. There is no way to know whatever the concussion cost her and changed her from whatever she would have grown to be without the concussion. But I saw quite a bit of emotional and physical regression right after the concussion and even though she matured both emotionally and physically as the the years progressed, she was never comfortable with or interested in Math after the concussion.
She is now in her second Semester on Blinn-TEAM and is a VERY HAPPY AGGIE in AGGIELAND!
She was selected for her first choice Sorority, has made great friends and earned As and Bs last Semester! We are so grateful to the reviewer(s) who offered her this wonderful opportunity.
Please go back and read info posted on this thread as well as related TAMU threads. I have a thread about my daughter’s Blinn-TEAM experience.
Please keep us posted! I am so hoping for good news for everyone on this board, and I hope all of the good news comes in tomorrow!!
Thank you AggieMomAgain !
That is incredible what your daughter came through to be where she is now. You must be really proud. I can relate to your daughter’s fear of being labeled different as this is what my son is feeling.
One of my older sons was an Admin Coordinator at Austin College for Duke Tip for 2 summers. It was a wonderful and challenging experience and he developed great friendships.
We will keep an appeal in mind. I don’t know what I would do without this board. Everyone is so helpful by sharing their stories. When there is a will there is a way!
Hate to ask, anyone call admissions after March 1? I haven’t called anymore but my friend did and she was told March 1 was a rumor that got started, unknown to them, and decisions will be March 31. I understand that some schools don’t find out until April 1 but I just wish admissions would have been consistent on a time rather than people being told so many different dates.
@Stimmer64 My daughter applied in August, but her SAT scores weren’t submitted until end of Sept./beginning of October. We are still waiting. She wants to major in Human Resource Development or Liberal Arts
Our Daughter completed her application Nov. 30 and her essays were submitted by Dec. 17. Also, the March 1st date wasn’t just a rumor “unknown to them”. I am one of those who spoke to Admissions several times in Feb. There have been so many dates given but I only posted what I was told by the Prospective Student Center or Office of Admissions. I always called one and then immediately called the other to verify. When given conflicting info I always asked to speak to someone above them. Although already posted on this thread, I won’t repeat the last date I was given but will only try to wait patiently along with everyone else. Good luck everyone!
@babymomma my mom called the Houston office on Friday after being told by them all decisions would be out before March first. They told her everyone will know before spring break. She kept trying to ask questions about whether more people will be admitted or just rejections but she just got a vague response. I sure hope they keep their word and we do find out before spring break but at this point who knows!
Any news?
Nothing new here.
