TAMU Holistic review candidates Class of 2022

Nothing here this morning. Has it been two weeks ( or three) since we have seen any significant numbers of admission decisions?

Nothing here as well

@2018decisions It has been three weeks. February 8th they accepted a lot of Blinn Team applicants. February 13th they accepted a lot of Engineering Galveston. Other than that it seems to have been very quiet.

Nothing here. I’ve spent the time doing more research on his second choice, Texas Tech. It seems to be on path to be the next tier one school. The honors college and research opportunities are worth considering, and they offered my son an $18,000.00 a year aid package, meeting most of his needs with some scholarships still not decided. The chartered shuttle buses for school breaks back and forth from major Texas cities would be a big help. I hope there is still hope with TAMU but feeling better about his other options regardless.

Nothing here either. Out of the 19 that have applied at my school, 10 have already heard back. One person was top 10, another received blinn team, and a friend got the higher education center at McAllen.

@2018decisions Engineering last saw decisions Monday and Tuesday, Feb 12 & 13 for Galveston. Wedneday and Thursday, February 7 & 8 saw Blinn Team decisions, Thursday, February 15 and Tuesday, February 20 saw Gateway admissions and Friday, February 23 a new admissions decision for the McAllen Health Science Center. Today is the 7th business day that no decisions have been released.

No changes here either.

@Ross2729 What about the other 7? What was their decision?

@ksaggie91 the others haven’t heard back yet

No change here…

@Stimmer64 Please have your son apply to the Honors College at Tech if the deadline hasn’t passed. If he goes there and cannot get in this year, have him apply for the following year. In my opinion, being in an Honors College is a good thing for a resume and certainly helps with registration. It indicates that a student is more than qualified for the university. The population in our state continues to grow. That should lift up the prestige of every university in the state. I know many very, very loyal Tech alumni.

@Stimmer64 I took my son to Tech this past weekend and we were really impressed. TAMU is still his first choice but Tech is his backup and he feels good about it. Honors college deadline has passed - we just missed it. They told us to make sure to apply next year.

Thanks MomHopesNxtGenAg
He did apply to Honors College. We received an email and phone call encouraging him to apply. We met the deadline, his AP English teacher just needs to send in his evaluation

No change here. Just leaving everyone hanging still… What’s a few more weeks since we’ve been waiting months already, I guess…

Does anyone know, historically, when the PSA offers have gone out? Do they go out last? Do they go out with the last wave of admits?

Typically they go out last. My daughter got PSA back in 2015. She got it on a Friday in February (like at the end). I’m not sure if full admits went out at that time as well though because I had no idea this forum existed!!!

So wave went out Nov. 21st (Monday), Dec. 15th (Friday), and Jan. 11th (Thurs). These were all full admit announcements. Thelma2 listed about the other types and when they came out. Surely there is one more big announcement of full admits and then PSA. So strange that it’s taking this long and doesn’t seem like many have really been accepted yet for full acceptance.

It is eerily quiet on here today.

Hard to believe its already March 6th. I thought we would already have plans made for next year by now.

This is my first time to ever comment. I’ve checked this forum probably close to 100 times already, though. I’ve come to the realization that my daughter will not get into Texas A&M. It’s been an extremely frustrating experience, to say the least. Here is a brief summary of her stats:

Application date: July 1st!!!
Holistic Review
Class rank: 10.4 %
ACT : 25 (she’s not a great standardized test taker)
SAT: 1200
3.96 GPA (unweighted)
24 dual credit hours
Varsity cheerleader
Competitive cheer team 6 years
Lots of volunteer work

We know of at least 10 people at her high school that were already accepted by holistic review and BLINN TEAM. They were ALL well behind her in class rank. She worked extremely hard and only made one B (89) throughout all of her high school courses.

If she wasn’t chosen to attend already, then I’m pretty confident she didn’t get in. It’s a hard pill to swallow that someone as dedicated as her can’t get in. Whatever algorithm they are using sucks. Picking a kid with a good test score but a 35% class ranking doesn’t make sense. That girl doesn’t take school very seriously. My kid did.

We put a dorm deposit on a small private school today that offered her an incredible scholarship. They want her.

BTW, my husband and I are both UT grads. We thought A&M was a better fit for her. I was all ready to wear maroon for the first time in my life.

@exlonghorn96 When I called yesterday they told me that all types of admissions are “still on the table”. Good luck!
