this morning four officers were killed before shift in a coffee shop

makes me sick to my stomach

Terrible…

I really wish the media would leave Ed Troyer, the county police spokesperson, alone. The police need to concentrate on investigating this horrible, horrible crime! I cannot even imagine how traumatized the coffee shop baristas are!

^ I don’t watch the tv- my H listens to the radio and he came in and told me about it.

Maybe I read too much- I can’t help but think it is connected to something else- like the trial of the Bakersfield solider who killed a Fort Lewis couple last year.
( not that that seems connected- just the timing and location)

I am just sick about this. FIVE police officers killed in our state in just one month.

The first officer who was killed on Halloween was a member of our church in his youth and his mom is still a member. We have all been so upset for the family.

Now four more families are grieving. So sad, so senseless.

These are both terrible situations. I really don’t know what to say other than I hope they find the people who did these crimes. My dad’s childhood friend was an officer killed in the line of duty a couple years ago in the Seattle area (White Center) and I know it is extremely sad for all involved. Seattle and Lakewood are not usually the safest areas and I am grateful for all the people who choose to be police officers, sheriff’s deputies, and state troopers there and in all other places.

Disgusting behavior. Lifetime incarceration just doesn’t seem like justice for crimes like these.

Update from CNN:

[Killer of 4 Washington cops may be wounded, police say - CNN.com](Killer of 4 Washington cops may be wounded, police say - CNN.com)

My heart goes out to the families and friends of the officers.

so senseless
Reminder that those in uniform risk their lives every day.

Such a very sad story, particularly when this individual was someone who had a 95 year sentence commuted and who has committed other crimes since then. Unbelievable.

The person of interest is now called a suspect (I bet the baristas were able to identify). I cannot get it - why was this hard-core criminal walking the city streets?

It’s Washington. They love to give criminals another chance. And we pay for it. I will never vote for Huckabee either because of this.

Because former governor Mike Huckabee released him due to his age (17) at the time his crimes were committed.

Latest news is that the suspect may be on or near the Universtiy of Washington campus. Students and staff have been alerted.

If what I read is correct, there are 9 children who lost a father or a mother - just so sad. The time of year makes it even worse, if that is possible - this is what the family members wil remember about the weeks around the holidays for the rest of their lives.

Yes, that is correct–9 children. There are profiles of each officer in today’s Seattle Times. I also thought of the time of year for these families–Thanksgiving will never be the same for them.

NPR station just reported that the suspect may be dead due to injuries when one officer returned fire.

we can only hope- however they haven’t located him yet.
Someone reported him getting off a bus in the U district & the house where he was holed up in Leschi was empty.

What a terrible situation. Reminds me of an incident a few years ago in Florida (?) in which two officers were killed. The perp went and hid in the woods, and when SWAT closed in he opened fire. They shot back, hitting the suspect over 70 times. When the local Sheriff was asked why his officers shot the man so many times, he responded, “Well, they would have fired more, but that ran out of bullets.”

Here’s hoping that this scumbag meets a similar fate. Thoughts and prayers to the affected community.

He may be headed to Arkansas

or not-
hope they get him soon.

I guess it isn’t too compassionate for me to hope he dies a miserable death.
