Tasp 2007

ahh now i regret not calling friday! i had actually decided to call, but then forget…and didnt get home till really late, but i just realized i couldve asked my parents to call them

oh well…guess ill wait till monday

and congrats everyone! youre all amazing

i think it depends where you’re having your interview… if you’re doing it at starbuck’s, i doubt you’d have to go full out business attire.

hahahaha corey. actually, i was wondering if we had to bring our essays. or does your interviewer bring them? what happens when he/she wants to refer to a specific line or something.

i curled up on my couch thinking i’d “rest” for a couple of minutes, and i wound up taking a three hour long nap. ergh.

When reading Corey’s post: Hahaha, such wit, such sarcasm! beat Wait…is he serious? freak out

Lol jk. I should really bring my piano with me though, eh?

Haha roam, that’s the story of my life. “Mom, can you wake me up in 30 minutes?” shnooze, whilst 4 hours pass I love sleep.

i <3 sleep too, being so adept at it and all.

hmmm, tasp chat tonight, anyone? i’m kind of still in a daze. until i get that letter/email, i’m functioning as if this isn’t real.

this thread is killing me. i reallyyy want to know now.

Haha.

Yeah I was half being sarcastic, but at the same time I don’t know what to bring.

Yeah what Roam said was going to be my ‘serious’ post. Dress appropriately for where your meeting.
Also in my letter, it said that the interviewers will formally contact you, and that you will be in correspondence with them for a while up till your interview so any questions and logistics will be settled then.

-Corey

Ahh why am I inside right now, its so beautiful out.

harvard- I TOTALLY AGREE!!! reading this is making me so excited to find out. I am soo happy for everyone who got in.

Btw, if I don’t get an interview i am going to live vicariously through all of you. Thanks!

If anyone from TASP last year can post what you should wear it would be greatly appreciated by everyone on this board.

Interviewers will have your essays and your vitals. You can bring a small portfolio with a backup set, but otherwise you can show up as you are. You really don’t need to prepare much except a quick look-over of your essays.

Corey, it’s really not that beautiful out here…it just snowed AGAIN this morning. It’s still flurrying and oh so dreary outside. :(

I want to chat too! I know what you guys mean…I’m still in a daze about this whole thing. Come Monday though, it’ll be another attack of the whoa.

globber, even if our essays do not touch up on current events/politics/global issues, is it still a good idea to brush up before the interview? i’m not political at all, so i was wondering if it’s necessary to go to the library and read the past months’ issues of time and newsweek, or is the interview just mainly based on your essays?

kyzan and yanners, you shall now be my sympathetic friends.

Don’t look through the past month’s stuff, but just try to generally be knowledgeable about current events. I remember my year the Schiavo case was in full swing and that seemed to be a common question. But yea, the vast majority of questions will come either directly from the essays or will somehow expand on them.

Just another question about the interviews; do the interviewers make large mention of your reading list as well? Or is the vast majority about you and/or your essays? To be honest, this whole interviewing process is almost completely new to me. I’ve never even done a college interview…

Haha. From what I have heard, this is not a college interview.
College Interviews are 15 minute nothingness compared to this. :-/

Yea about the book list has been a common question on this thread, I might just go over and select any of the big books they might comment on, and brush up on those.
Current Events, probably good discussion.
Prepare to defend your rankings of seminars with some basic facts, besides just saying that you dont like Science so UT is out of the question.

IDK

Corey: Yeah, I’ve heard that too. Eep. Lol. I’m actually shooting for UT as one of my top seminars, so no worries about that. :D

Reading all this is really really making me want an interview!! I’m just going to act like I didn’t get one so I don’t have to think about it.

All you guys are worrying over nothing. It’s just an interview for stupid TASP. They pick the wrong people anyway so you shouldn’t be so worried. Just go, if you don’t get in that’s because Telluride is really pathetic.

=)

Lol.

Emo Karen. Checks her myspace–Ooh is that My Chemical Romance as your profile song. So hXc

wow id have to re-read a lot of books on my list if i got an interview…i dont have a good memory and a lot of those were backk…in like summer

haha…i have the complete opposite song on my myspace. but funny anyway. I can’t wait till monday!!

I put down UT as my first choice. My history teacher and I are very good friends (weird right?) and he leans towards the right and I to the left. Well we just joke about our differences in politics all the time because he isn’t hard core republican. So when I asked him for a recommendation for the program in Texas he was like “Texas! You want to go to Texas! Karen, you’re coming over to the dark side.”
It was really funny.
