Tasp 2007

Oh yes Roam, the photobucket pics.

Tako, if you leave this posting party, you don’t get the house. =)

We only just made it to page 465? POST MOOOOOOORE!

Time for a philosophical moment…

Why doesn’t TASP rhyme with wasp?

hahahahahahaha. actually, my interviewer said back in the day he was at TASP (he went to TASP in '64 or something, the first year it became coed; he was pretty happy), it might as well have been called “WASP” because the diversity factor wasn’t exactly apparent. and then, many many years later, they came up with TASS for minority studies.

i wonder if Deep Springs will ever become coed. every year the people vote and it never passes. =(

i’ve actually never been in a target either. or a wal-mart, for that matter. that seems strangely un-american. see, TASP is expanding my horizons already!

does anyone know if the cabs are vans or regular sedans? because 2 people + luggage will probably pretty much fill a sedan but with a van we could wait for more people.

oh, and the pie idea sounds awesome. we should do like an everyone-bring-their-favorite-recipe-from-home thing and then we can try them all over the course of TASP.

tako, did you find a way to stickie stuff yet? …or is anyone ever going to? :S

And pies… argh. I just realized that I do not like lemon pie at all and that’s the only pie I’ve tasted besides apple pie which I despise also. hehe… I guess I’m not a pie-person. :P

that’s why you get your fellow TASPers to make you brownie pie, chocolate meringue pie, chocolate mousse pie… =)

yay assorted! i will bring lotsa recipes. it depends on the cab company. i called up a couple of them and some of them are small vans while others can fit up to nine people with one piece of luggage each. do you want me to forward you the emails i sent to my fellow-shuttlecabbers?

that’d be awesome…thanks for doing all the research for the rest of us!

tako we aren’t a featured thread anymore
do yer job dammit

Hola I missed le posting party… tear

EEEK >1 more week.

Roam, I know seriously when are we going to meet? I like your idea of coming to the TA house. Just be like HI i am here for TASP… wait what its not at the house, and why is everyone black here?.. Oh I am in the wrong place-- COREY!!!

yea anyways :stuck_out_tongue:
The other night at 3am I called Aida, but her house on accident so her mom picked up, scary scary stuff. I didn’t know what to do so I pretended I couldn’t hear her and just kept saying Hellooo, hello… On 2nd though I should have been like, Mom are you there and pulled it off like I got the wrong number… Oh well

Its really late, and I haven’t gone to bed earlier than 3 for the past three nights. I really need to stop going out.

Today I was talking with my grandparents, asking about my Great grandma’s 90th bday party that is happening in Chicago next weekend (I am going en route to TASS) Anyways this Thursday I am visiting Northwestern and U Chicago so that came up.
They sort of went on this mini-rant about how lucky I was that I will get to visit 4 colleges (Nwestern, Chicago, Gtown, and apparently Stanford) before I apply and how most kids don’t have that opportunity. Then they went off even more about whether Stanford counted since I live so close. It was a rather long and pointless chat.

I like how you UMickers seem to have a lot of logistics to deal with and you are only 1 week out… For some reason our TASS is just a little bit ahead of your game. Not only are our factota picking everyone up, we are doing a Target run as a group after dinner. Lol stinks to be a TASPer, have so much more responsibility.

Oh and those who don’t know how to do their own laundry, you guys suck. I am done with doing my own laundry, seriously, I have been doing it for some 10 years I think I deserve a break.

Coooool…I’m visiting Chicago and NW, too, except on Friday ;)

I can only recommend, I’m afraid, Mintie and Nate. It isn’t for lack of effort; it’s lack of authority :(

And I really really really want to visit UChicago while we’re in Michigan. Do you think they’ll let us? It’s like a 5 hour drive, right? Do you think we can take the bus and check it out :)

Hey is it possible for an international student to get accepted into TASP because it may be difficult to do an interveiw, also is it true that little weight is placed on SAT scores (Getting my results thurs) and my school grades?

Depending on the distance, you’ll probably get an interview by phone. Each year, there are actually quite a few international TASPers. And yes, essays are valued much more than grades or SAT scores.

You don’t report your SAT scores. School grades probably make up a fraction, but in my opinion, they’re there to supplement your essays and nothing more.

Phone interviews happen. (Somebody…don’t remember her CC name had a phone interview). She was actually going to have an interview with Ellen Baer herself, but Ellen missed her flight (yes, TA is willing to fly somebody down for an interview it needed.) There may also be a TA alumni living in your area that could do an interview. Oh, somebody, Kathy_violin, drove 5 hours down from Canada to do her interview. So yes, it’s very possible for an international student to get accepted into TASP. I’d say maybe 10-15 of this year’s TASPers are international.

Inky, wasn’t it?

YES that’s right. Can’t believe I forgot. Inkspill eeee :D

She doesn’t come here anymore :(

My history teacher just talked to us for 15 minutes about how dangerous the internet is and why we should never talk to people we don’t know through it/ post our pics on facebook. I concluded the discussion by saying “Mr. Little, I have pictures of you on my facebook.” Which is true.

^ LOL

But it’s true that the internet can be dangerous - maybe not always in the “predator v. prey” sort of way, but maybe for creating the wrong first impression, etc.

And I suppose it’s kind of ironic we’re talking about internet safety on THIS thread where people pretty much just tell strangers about their entire life story. lol

LOL. Seriously, Mintie. I mean, this thread was literally my life…since January. Wow. That’s kind of scary, actually. In ten years I’m going to come back and read this thread and be like…wow I was such a loser. Haha :)
