does anyone know how much the “essay for a class” submission matters? i’m a bit nervous because there’s no one essay i’m that proud of…they’re good, but definitely not on the same level as my TASP essays…hope it’s not a big determining factor

@parousia You’re welcome! The essay shouldn’t be tooooo huge of a factor, but it still is pretty important, because they want to see your skills in a class environment. Maybe you can ask your teachers which ones they would recommend you submit?

Also, I’m really glad that my TASP videos have been helpful to you guys (which, yay)! I know you guys are going to be applying to college soon, and I was just visiting my sister over the past few days at her college, Haverford, which is one of the top 20 liberal arts colleges (#11 on US News). I shot some footage, and I was wondering if you guys would want me to post a vlog about it? I’d be happy to do that with other colleges that I can get to as well, like Princeton and Brown and Harvard, just so you guys can get that inside peek. Just let me know how I can help!

I have my interview tomorrow. It will be over FaceTime because I live in the middle of nowhere and I guess they couldn’t find alumni near me. SUper NerVous! Has anyone had their interview yet? If so, how did it go? I’ll definitely check back in tomorrow and let everyone know how mine went.
@rjscholar I had my interview earlier today and it went pretty well (I think?). My interviewer was young and open with me about what she liked and disliked about the program, although she certainly liked it a lot more than she didn’t. Most of the posts online about interviews describe them as really intense, but mine was more laid back. My interview primarily focused on my background–she mentioned that creating a diverse cohort perspective-wise was something that Telluride really cared about–as well as some points on my essays that she wanted me to elaborate on and connect more concretely to my life.

@parousia when I was looking at previous threads, there were people whose interviewers contacted them later than today’s date. But, I don’t think it would hurt to send an email. I’ve emailed TASP twice with questions and they have been super helpful and understanding.
I just got done with my interview! I am not sure how it went. The first portion was mostly about me and my application, so it wasn’t that difficult to answer. There were questions that weren’t related to my application, and those were definitely more difficult to think of answers for on the spot. I would say the first part of the interview was very relaxed and the second was much more introspective and intellectually challenging. I hope my difficulty to come up with a couple of those answers doesn’t come across as not intellectual :0
Have you all been able to update your seminar preferences? When I click on it it flashes to what looks like a selection tool but then reverts back to “Please check back later to update your TASP seminar preferences.” Anyone else experiencing this? Also, do we have to manually mark the transcript and recommendation request parts as complete, or will they be automatically complete when the teacher/counselor submits the form? Thanks!
@alrob29 That’s the same for me and one of my friends who is also a finalist. I assume we will be able to edit it later - it’s still not updated on the TASP website either. If you email TASP, let us know what they say!
Hey, if anyone has already done the interview, how’d it go…? I’m really scared because I’ve heard the interviews are super intimidating. Did the interviewers generally stick to your essays? Or did they ask about current events/politics/etc.?
i accidentally uploaded the writing sample as complete w/o the assignment instructions… should i email tasp?
also my school didn’t mail my transcript they just emailed it to tasp lol, should i email tasp about that too
@bluediary Haha yeah I would email TASP, no worries though! You’re ahead of the deadline and everything - you just want to make sure everything goes through as planned.

i emailed tasp twice but they still haven’t responded unfortunately. if i email my school to upload my transcript as a pdf i don’t think they’ll reply because the person who normally does it is away on vacation. i know they for sure emailed it to tasp though. i’m unsure if tasp accepts it via email. should i just mark it as complete?
@bluediary if i was in your position, i’d probably wait until the night of march 31 to see if tasp replies and if they haven’t by these i’d just mark if as complete
