Just curious if all these recent acceptances are ED? My S did EA so thinking we might here this Friday?
Hi @Haile2008 --congrats on your studentâs acceptance. Just curious on what type of scholarship you got for paying only the $22.5K only?
She got academic scholarships and need-based. Total attendance cost acc to TCU est 86K (incl. travel & personal exp) per year, so after deducting the scholarships, we need to pay 22.5k usd per year
EA coming on 12/14 5pm CST.
Confirmed or speculated?
I donât have direct knowledge, but if you scroll through the posts above there is one individual who has a direct relationship with admissions. Additionally, this Thursday would be consistent with the previous 4-5 years.
And also that individual was accurate with their call on the ED decisions, date, and time.
Ok. Thank you
Are EA decisions still on track to come out tomorrow at 5 pm CST?
Yes
Yes, EA Decisions will START coming out at 5 PM Central Time tonight. There are over 10,000 decisions being sent out that will be released in a staggered fashion between 5 and 6 pm, so donât panic if you donât see something right at 5. Good luck everyone!
Central time?
Yes, Central Time. I edited my reply to include that. Thanks!
How many will be acceptances of the 10k? Did they say?
Iâll let the TCU folks announce any of those stats that they chose to make public. I just wanted to let folks know when decisions will be sent out. I honestly think itâs kind of silly that TCU doesnât let applicants know ahead of time when they will be released.
Just using the US news data from Fall 2022 which had 871 ED applicants for a total applicant pool across all (ED1/2, EA, RD) of 16,150 from that year, and further backing into an assumption of the RD pool @ 34% acceptance rate for that category, you come out to roughly 65% EA acceptance rate. This analysis assumes that there is not a huge increase in applications this year versus last year, which there shouldnât be all things being equal. Applications went down from ~21,000 in 2021 to 16,150 in 2022, and then back up to where they have historically been to ~20,000 for fall of 2023. I would find it extremely hard to believe that applications jumped to 30-35K for fall of 2024. My guess is that applications remain roughly flat to slightly up at 21,000 give or take.
Summary: if the past is any indication, EA applications should be in the 60-65% acceptance range (all things being equal).
My D accepted ED I TCU on Dec 1. TCU will announce on X and your kid can check portal account upon receiving an email.
The number of ED applicants for 2023 was about the same as you quoted for 2022. There are about 13,000 EA decisions going out today if that helps. Obviously, the number of Regular decision applicants is unknown at this time. The football success last year definitely led to increased applicants this year. The same thing happened after TCU won the Rose Bowl in 2011.
Thanks Frogfan. Some of my numbers are off: it was 16,197 total applicants in 2022, not 16,150. Do you happen to know how many EA applicants there were in 2022? Was it 10,000? Plugging in 13,000 for EA in a quick and dirty model means that the EA acceptance rate should be around 55-60% (assuming they want to keep enrollment where it is at, all things being equal, yield remains consistent, etc.). Anyway, good luck to everyone today!
Anyone have insight on housing in the future? Specifically wondering if there are any plans to accommodate juniors and seniors on campus over the next four years.
