That’s all good, bet she can gain some insight from her admissions counselor especially since she had already established good rapport. She’ll find her right school and maybe it’s still TCU. Hard to hear today when there’s disappointment, but it will all work out. Chin up. My guy is out watching football with his buddies who got into Clemson…think he’s recovered and accepting the outcome for today.
Thank you, that is very kind of you. She just got home from basketball practice and is still quite upset. Looking for some advice: do you think we should sleep on it over the weekend, then get in touch with her admissions counselor to talk about what advice they might have and what went wrong? Seriously, running through the stats up above for those accepted I’m really struggling to understand where she went wrong. Should we then write a letter of continued interest? Further, should we switch to EDII since TCU was her first choice? Thank you to all for any insight. And finally, congratulations to all who were accepted.
We live in NC, but I’m a NJ girl; I would sleep on it tonight and then craft a beautiful letter of interest to the admissions counselor…wouldn’t focus on what went wrong, but how she can change the outcome and stress her genuine interest. As long as not emotional, no reason to wait over the weekend IMO. Good luck.
Just wondering: does TCU reject EA applicants or is it only accept or defer?
S24 accepted to business with deans scholarship 4.67/1400 student council president varsity captain job for 3 years
‘For early action applicants, you’ll receive an admitted, deferred, or denied decision.’
(from: How Do I Know If I'm Admitted?)
For all deferred, this article from TCU website might be helpful: (Deferred Decision)
Our college adviser has promoted EDII for deferrals as a meaningful admissions bump.
Nothing went wrong. Your daughter didn’t do anything wrong. Amazing kids get deferred or rejected every day from colleges where they would do well. Make sure your daughter knows it is not personal. Yes, sleep on it and if TCU is really her first choice, she should absolutely apply EDII. Remember it is binding. This time in the admission process is awful, both for students and parents. But she will be ok, and might actually end up at TCU after all. And if not, she will land somewhere where she will do well too! Hang in there, it will be ok.
totally not too late to apply to other schools. But she has a good chance at USC. And UNH is a great school.
Thank you. Very kind.
Daughter deferred from Nursing.
Planning on switching to ED2, does anyone have any tips?
We know nursing is very small and competitive, so do you think she has a chance of getting in with ED2?
TCU is her top choice, unfortunately got her heart set on it.
Same with my daughter. I can’t advise on nursing, but would say in general based on other conversations ED11 can only help, not hurt.
I’m sorry about the deferral. Yes, TCU does reject some EA. My child’s teammate opened the portal last night while at sports practice with the team and was rejected. Good luck to your daughter.
Son is deferred. He is a 3.8UW 4.1 Weighted GPA Mechanical Engineering Elected student officer, 2 varsity sports, Boys State Member lots of ECs. Already accepted at Ole Miss, Alabama Embry Riddle and Montana State. Only TCU and Baylor left. He is a ROTC national scholarship applicant with TCU listed as top school. Now wondering if we should juggle that priority order.

and I got deferred EA as Nursing Major. I’m not sure if I want to apply ED2 due to the financial part of it, but I know it would increase my chances.
Any tips or advice from anyone? I’ve been feeling so defeated
Wow. Makes no sense. Similar stats to my daugther (3.9/4.1) and I love your son’s activities. Ole Miss is fantastic. My son has a friend who attends Montana State and loves it.
So sorry. You appear to be a great candidate. Not sure I have any sage advice but to pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and get back at it. Applying ED2 if TCU is truly your top choice is advisable.
We have been pleasantly surprised with what we have seen so far from Montana state, and a really nice merit award (and they are a wue school for us west coast folks)
Agree with lovetractor’s encouragement, including how great Montana State is, as that’s where we live!
Question: since FAFSA isn’t even out yet (we filed the CSS Profile), has anyone heard when financial aid letters might come out?
