Teach For America 2012 Corps

Haha sounds like our jobs are very similar except I don’t have to fend off the date requests from five year olds
There is one question that just sticks with me! They asked why I would want to leave my current position. I felt that I had an adequate answer but since then I’ve come up with much more compelling answers! Who knows. I know acceptance doesn’t ride on ONE answer so I’m holding onto that.

They all think I am 18, not cool. No matter how hard I try to look older, I cannot! I would definitely not worry! I remember why you said you joined. Is that how you responded?

I am just worried that I seemed too nervous or ditzy during my lesson plan, or that I did not support what I believe tfa is well enough. Or maybe they want someone from Harvard over me?! Ahhh.

I have the same school fear as well. I went to a tiny private Christian college in TN.
As far as my answer yes thats what I said but I’m not sure it’s what they were wanting to hear.
My age is fine in my classroom it’s my height that’s funny. I am 6’1" so my kindergarteners seem to just come up to my knees. I feel like they are breaking their necks when they look up at me. I am also groped on a daily basis as my rear is about as high as they can reach for a hug! Haha I don’t know who’s problems are worse Zettibetti!

i finally decided to create an account… im with the 4DL group, waiting until March 6th. Surprisingly im not that anxious, but i’ll probably have a heart attack on the 6th lol

11 DAYS!!!
So Excited!!

Ahhh soo exciting!!

Big Welcome goes out to all the new people on the board :)

Totally random question, does anyone have any idea what TFA might ask your recommender? I was just curious lol

Yay! Good luck everyone!

I found this a little while ago. I believe it’s the form they used to have recommenders fill out before they began the online forms. I could be wrong but they may still ask similar things.
Check it out. <a href=“Teach For America”>www.teachforamerica.org/online/info/Recommendation.letter.07.pdf

Laine, that is so funny about your students! Whenever I sub for first grade they always try hugging me and I think, uhhhh this is awkward. They do not know though, to be innocent again! I am hoping we do not have to worry about the college thing!

I cannot believe only 11 more days!

One of my recommenders sent me what she sent. It was just rating experiences, asking if they think we will make good teachers, etc.

This blog makes me more anxious, but I can’t stop going to my bookmarks to load it up everyday. I’m so excited for everyone in here and can’t wait until the 6th.

laine17, thanks for that link!!

I do the same husker090! Only 11 more days, AHHH!

My trans. funding changed when i checked today to Complete! Ah, hopefully its a good sign

Wow! Calijunkie that does appear to be a good sign! Mine still says “under review”. If you don’t care to share what letter does your last name start with? I’ve wondered if they do them in alphabetical order…

Wow! Calijunkie that does appear to be a good sign from what I’ve seen in previous posts! If you don’t mind sharing what letter does your last name start with? I’m wondering if they do these in alphabetical order…
Congrats!

Haha I thought the first one didn’t go through! Oops

laine17, my last name starts with H.

I submitted my funding information last Friday, a week after the deadline, I think?

This is the message I got:
Your application has been approved. You will be able to see your award amount below after the notification date, should you be accepted to the corps.

Ah, I can’t wait till March 6th. I’m sooo nervous

Fantastic! That’s a pretty quick turnaround especially since you applied late! I’m pretty sure that’s a good sign
Everyone else keep us posted if you see any updates!

Congrats on the change to complete! What was the date of your interview? Maybe they review transitional funding starting with people who interviewed Monday?

Congrats Cali! That definitely rules! Good for you!

Thanks guys. I don’t want to get my hopes up at all. I don’t know if a change in transitional funding is correlated to acceptance, so I’m just going to assume the worst still.

My interview was Wednesday, Feb 15th! It prob also depends on your region

Region probably does have something to do with it!
