Teach For America 2012 Corps

Cinemaniac, I am in the same situation! I definitely do not want to do this alone! He said that he is down to go wherever though! I kept his job in mind though too because I do not want to be like, oh hey come move with me, pay some bills, but you cannot find a job. That would be crappy. I do worry about something like that happening, but I am prepared for that situation. I figure by the time we find out, they will have like five months to look.

Did anyone get a survey today??

Hey zettibetti!

I also received that survey, did everyone receive it?

Yep got mine too!

I hope that is a good sign!!!

I got mine too. I nearly had a heart attack when I saw it said 4DL in the subject… I thought they were sending me my rejection early to ease the pain! LOL

I submitted my transitional funding just a few days ago. Did anyone else submit for that? I was reading earlier in the forums that people kept checking the status of that to hopefully get an idea of where they were in the process. Mine still says “Under Review” but that doesn’t surprise me at all.

I applied for transitional funding as well. I submitted back when I did my transcript and coursework forms. Mine still says “under review”. In the earlier posts, someone saw a change of status as early as 10 days after his interview. Everyone else was anywhere from 1-3 days before notification day, some were even hours before notification. So there’s no telling!

Mine still says under review as well. I check it everyday! I am so nervous!

Laine, I saw that too. I do not know if it was because the one person asked for an early notification, but that is what it seemed. I truly wish all of you luck. I hope we all can get in!

I applied for mine on Feb.12th so it was 2 days after I submitted everything else, so I am sure my status won’t change until notification day or later…
But I am not worrying about that… I just can’t wait for March 6th!! Its driving me crazy! LOL…
I also had a heart attack about the e-mail saying 4DL applicants… and not congratulations like the other times LOL!!!

I know smarques I am going crazy too!!! I did not even realize the e-mail was from TFA then I was like MAN, I want the acceptance!!!

I e-mailed admissions asking about an experience of a corps member in a certain area and I was just referred back to the website. I can only imagine how busy they are though!! I hope it isn’t a bad sign  I honestly think I am over thinking everything and cannot wait for school to start back up next week to get my mind off of this!

Well, I just wasted an hour reading this thread. The break down of the each of the stages on page 3 was really interesting.

You all see like great people! Hopefully we will all be hearing good news in two weeks time!

Everyone gets the survey. They send them out before the acceptances and rejections so that you’re not biased when you’re filling them out. I forgot about it though and when I saw it in my inbox I immediately thought bad news! I’m checking my transitional funding status way, way too often!

I wish they’d send out the rejections right away because I’m sure they know by now, and then on March 6th just send everyone their placements. Basically if we’re rejected they already know, but they make you wait for the assignment process for the “acceptees”. I would just want to get the rejection over with if that was the case!

Chikvicious, I am with you on that! If I am rejected, I want to know now! Only 12 more days. I have been reading people’s stories, some stories are extremely scary and sad!!

Did anyone else send “thank you” notes after your interviews?

No, I honestly would not know who to send them to. Did you just send it to admissions?

I sent an email to a woman who contacted me, gave her personal number out and said contact her if I have any questions. She has not responded to me, that makes me nervous.

Yes I addressed mine to admissions. I didn’t hear back after the one i sent following my phone interview. But I did hear back after the one i sent following the final interview. It was just a “thank you contact habit you have further questions” pretty generic response. I wasn’t sure if it was something I should do at all but I went through with it.
Not sure it will do anything but it was an attempt! Time can’t go by fast enough.

Haha I phone decided to type “habit” what I meant was - contact us if you have any further questions.

Haha, I understood what you meant. I really think I am overthinking everything. I cannot change it now so I do not know why I am worried. You are absolutely correct, it cannot come sooner! I really wish they would send the denials as soon as they know! Didn’t you say you are a teacher laine?

Yes I am! I teach Kindergarten. We are on winter break this week which is fantastic! But to be honest I’d rather be busy so I dont keep thinking about TFA. I know how you feel, everything is officially out of our hands. I just keep rethinking some answers I wish I had said!

I was going to ask you if you were on break! I am a guest teacher and have this week off. I could have worked in far-away districts, aka the suburban districts 45 mins away, but the weather in unpredictable! I am going a little crazy and have been reading books to keep my mind off TFA! It just is not working as well as taking attendance, keeping the class quiet while I give directions, being asked a hundred questions, and declining answers about my personal life and date requests. I am ready to go back to the chaos and keep my mind busy for 8 hours!

I am sure you did great! You have the experience! Is it just the whole making sure you said the “magic” answer that is bothering you?
