Teach For America 2012 Corps

so there are a few of us who have complete statuses, and tuesday we will find out, firsthand, if it has anything to do with being accepted. 4 more days…

I have to wait until Tuesday, therefore, I am back in the electronic-ring with everyone on this board! Here’s to acceptance for everyone on this board. The fact that you found this board, and have engaged in communication with future colleagues displays your passion!

I have to wait until Tuesday for my decision as well.

Plb675 were you given a reason as to why you didn’t receive your notification? Has communication gotten any better?

@Laine - they wanted a copy of transcripts from a junior college I wet to. I didn’t submit them originally because they were listed on my degree granting university’s transcript. I still think communication can be improved. When issues come up such as mine it would be nice to talk to someone or at least have a chat feature available.

I just saw the new post on the TFA admissions blog. I saw that they quoted me from my “phone interview survey”. Pretty cool to see they really read those and take them into consideration!

Wow Laine17, that is awesome. That definitely makes it seem that they like you as an applicant! Congrats!

Satelle, it is good to see you are so dedicated. I feel the same way as you!

I keep checking my status expecting things to change. In a way, I am happy I was not accepted, To be honest, I did not agree with TFA saying at my interview that great teachers are made, not born. I had read many horror stories too and I honestly started to hope TFA would not accept me. I agree with the program whole-heartedly, I just feel as though many situations were romanticized.

I have my interview soon for a similar program!

I honestly wish you all the best of luck! It was great getting to “know” so many of you!

Hello everyone!
Like many users, I’ve been creeping on this forum for some time. But, as we near the 74 hour mark until notification, I had to join and say hello! This has been such a resource and an inspiration–reading about everyone else’s passion and enthusiasm really justifies my own and I am beyond excited for what will come.
Everyone on here is going to do great things, I can tell! :)

What are some things that you have all been doing to ease your nerves before notification day? Nothing seems to keep me busy enough to keep me from checking my status approximately 5 times daily. You know, things besides reading this forum from page 1 to 62 compulsively! :P

err, by 74 hours I meant 98!

I’m dodging tornados here in TN. Golfball sized hail! That’s keeping my mind off of TFA. For now.

hahahah, oh no! It’s not really that funny, but your response made me laugh. I really hope you’re doing all right! We just got a bunch of snow up here in NH, but that is NOTHING compared to tornado dodging! Stay safe!

Haha yeah so far so good. Prepared with poptarts and water bottles in the closet if it comes to that. But I’m obviously worried about my safety as I am more focused on this thread than the news!

Be safe laine17

Welcome renee and stay safe laine!!! I’ve been feeling really down for the past couple of days. I’m preparing myself for rejection because my TF status is still “under review.”

Oh wow tornados?? I have two jobs so that keeps me occupied

Fairytale- I wouldn’t stress the under review status. If anyone checked the application entry page today they reported that from 7pm to 1am the online activity for 5D will be shut down.
This tells me that there is a ton of activity on their end and the site can’t handle it all. They might even be using that time to do 4D admissions stuff.

Yes laine I saw that on the blog entry… Congratulations on the feature btw, that’s awfully cool and a great sign!

@Zettibetti - I really need my status to change to something different… It still says “Congrats on being invited to a Final Interview”.

Closure can’t entirely be attained for me until my Application Center status changes! haha

I’ve officially applied for Americorps NCCC. Wish me luck!
