Teach For America 2013 Corps

I applied for the third deadline as well. Was invited to participate in a phone interview which is tomorrow evening! Pretty nervous but trying not to stress too much about it. Planning on finishing up the online activity tomorrow afternoon as well!

Where are y’all hoping to teach?

I got invited to the final interview!

@pml161991- I’m hoping to go to Nashville or Charlotte, definitely looking for a change in weather after living in New York for twenty years.

Good luck everyone!

@ubbulss24 … good luck on Nashville and Charlotte. Those were my top two choices but I was assigned South Carolina (which I am still happy about)

@crazygolfer68- What was your grade level and subject preferences. I’d personally be happy if I was accepted anywhere, but the South is probably my top choice.

My top choice is DC, followed (in no particular order) by Chicago, Seattle, and Milwaukee.

Any tips for the phone interview from those that have already completed it?

I highly preferred HS Math & Physics, Middle School Math and Elementary. i was assigned High School math and South Carolina was 4 on list of highly preferred locations.

How did everyone’s phone interview go?

I had my phone interview today and I think it went pretty well. (Or so I am hoping!) @ubbulls24 I am also from NY and I am looking for a change as well! I am interested in any of the TX locations, TN, Atlanta and Miami. I am on the fence about Baltimore and Philadelphia but I am sure I will add those as well.

My phone interview is in a couple hours. Getting nervous but I will keep you guys posted. Also, finished up the online activity last night!

I thought my phone interview went okay, my interviewer was super awkward! Can’t believe we have to wait another week to find out! I am hoping for Jacksonville, Boston, San Francisco, or just anywhere but Atlanta, and someplace that is near the ocean would be nice.

My interview seemed to go pretty well. My interviewer was cool, told me a lot about her experience as a corps member in Hawaii. Now it is the waiting game I suppose.

I had my phone interview today too! I thought it went well, and I had a lot in common with the woman that interviewed me. Is it true that they do that purposely so that you connect with the interviewer? Did anyone else have that experience?

Now we just wait until November 20th. Seems like forever. Good luck everyone!!!

My interviewer was really nice, and talkative. They asked me a lot about my master’s program. Did anyone else get questions related to that? My interview was also about 25 minutes.

@ubbulus24. I was accepted to Charlotte on Nov. 1st. Thus far, I have been very impressed by there staff and the prospects there.

@ready2teach No Way! What subject will you be teaching there?

@Taffiedog10 I think they do try to find interviewers you have a lot in common with. I’m president of the drama club and they had someone call me who loves theater.

High school math

@aliceinwonderland have you already been accepted to TFA? my friend that is now in TFA says her phone interviewer basically advocated for her throughout the entire application process, and now she works under her! seems crazy to me. i seriously hate waiting. I just want to know about the final interview! anyone else feeling this way?

Waiting is the worst part! The terrible part is you don’t find out if you are accepted until January 7th! Either way it is good though, this gives me time to really think about the different regions they have to offer.

Yeah the wait for the 3rd deadline is a bit longer than 2nd deadline. I’m so happy I applied 2nd deadline and I already know! Best of luck to all of you!! The waiting becomes unbearable.
