Teach For America 2013 Corps

Yes I did. When I was still in my undergrad.

That’s awesome!! Are you feeling better about it this time around?

I am feeling a lot better about everything. But hey you never know! I am still freaking out. I have always wanted to work for TFA since I learned about them over two years ago. Fingers crossed for all of us!

That’s cool that you have stuck with it so long! I wish you the best this time around.

In my final interview I felt like I connected with my interviewer well. She kept agreeing with what I was saying and kept making it more like a conversation. I don’t know if it is a good or a bad thing but it felt like a good thing.

Is it January 7th yet?

You guys will all be great. I was on the wait list 2011 and reapplied for 2012, it is one of the best decisions I have made. Even if you don’t get an offer, try again in a year. I will say that, with the year off from school, I am a much more effective teacher. My head and heart are in the place.

With that in mind, good luck! If you have any questions, let me know. I’m one of the few people that has to call accepted corps members after they get a spot to answer any questions.

Try to distract yourselves!

My interview was like a conversation as well. I also feel like I got really positive feedback from my interviewer. I think it all depends on how everything else comes together and if you fit what they need? I am probably over thinking this.

Has anyone’s documents been verified yet? I feel like I keep checking every hour. I have no change =(
Hopefully something will change by next week!

I did a little stalking. (do not judge please) It seemed for the last deadline the ones I saw, they saw changes in the transitional funding anywhere from 6-12 days after their interview. I am at a week lol

hahaha don’t worry I have been stalking too…I looked at past years and it looks like this deadline only found out about a week early that their TF had changed-so maybe it’s not a week after interviews but a week prior to notification day which still fits the timeline of past deadlines?

Except for us a week early is New Years so I doubt anyone will be working haha

I am thinking either right before Christmas or right after New Years?? Hopefully people will post when they see a change!

Well my interviewer was trying to take notes and she apologized in advanced because of her laptop. But it was hard for it to be like a conversation because she was focused on taking notes. Afterwards we were able to have more of a conversation when I just asked questions. I honestly think it depends on the interviewer. Even my phone interview he was more focused on taking notes than actually having a normal conversation. Finally he was shocked when I answered a question a little out of the norm I said is that bad and he said definitely not you haven’t said anything bad. But up until that I couldn’t tell what type of impression I was making.

I found out about my acceptance around 5:45 EST time.

If 3dl is anything like 1dl and 2dl, you guys should start getting notifications at around 5:00pm eastern time on the 7th. I applied 1dl and went into my final class of the day around 3:00 pm mountain time and saw I had an email from TFA, but didn’t want to read it until after class. Luckily, it turned out to be good news.

My advice, DON’T OBSESS OVER T.F. STATUS!!! It gets people too worked up.

I got an email from the grants and loans office stating that my transitional funding was incomplete. They said they needed to know a few more things about my financial aid before they could complete my status. I emailed them back immediately and should hear back within a day or two. Is this a good sign do you think? What do you guys think?

Sounds like a great sign TFAWannabe!!

Does it say Incomplete on your status now? /What does it say next to the documents?

Sounds like a great sign TFAWannabe! I’m really not stressing out about the TF change 1) because I applied past the deadline, so I probably won’t find out anyways and 2) People’s changed sometimes only hours before their acceptance, and 3) I’m really not going to stress about TFA at all because I honestly believe that whatever happens happens for a reason. BUT… It’s awesome that yours has changed already!

I would say a great sign!!! =)

@mattack yeah it says incomplete. They said I underestimated my total tuition to attend my school and that I should add whatever the spring semester would cost too. I went ahead and emailed them the rest of the info and will let you all know if my status changes or not.

Thought I’d join in on the thread since I’ve been lurking on it for months! Will be waiting til Jan. 7th for a response, so nervewrecking.
