How does college look on an average recommendation?

What if the two teacher recommendation tells a different story from each other (science teachers seem more kind than language teachers) or, worse, different from the students’ story?

if it is a different impression, that can be good i think. if it´s two sides of one specific story, that would prove you lying, or at least exaggerating sth you mention on your application, then this is bad. can you be more specific, then it would be easier to answer your question ^^

Well… That’s just a scenario.
I mean if two teachers gave contradictory comments, like one said that I am an courteous person, and another tells the opposite. I mean 180 degree opposite comments.

In that case I would look for another teacher to ask for a recommendation.

haha, ok completely misunderstood that…
i think it would just mean that one knows you and the other don´t… or that you are a bit schizophrenic ^^…
just ask for a different one, from a teacher that you feel likes you and also knows you. you want to give colleges you are applying to, an honest representation of what kind of a person you are.

A positive representation would do you a lot more good than an honest one ;)

I’m afraid I can’t. I have only two language teachers, and both of them does not like me / know me much.

I guess I’m doomed.

BTW, how does an average, I mean a really average recommendation looks to the admissions? By saying average, I mean that most boxes / comments are average.

Your recommendations are more important than anything you write yourself. An average recommendation is bad if you are shooting for selective colleges. I cannot claim that any of my language teachers were impressed by my performance, but they were still benevolent enough to write a positive letter.

If your recommendation contradicts something you say, it sets of a red flag and could result in a rejection.
