I have a dd who lately has been talking about teaching abroad. She has mentioned a program called Teaching Nomad. Has anyone heard of it? She (and her boyfriend) have been thinking about going to China, South Korea or Japan. Does anyone have experience with programs in these countries?

Of those 3, I have heard of a respected program for Japan called JETS. However, I don’t know if it’s only though colleges/universities.

Good Luck.

My S is starting his 4th year teaching English in Seoul. There are several companies that recruit exclusively for Korea. Do you have any specific questions?

I guess I just want to know which companies/programs are reputable. It would make me feel better if I hear about someone’s experiences rather than just reading the companies’ testimonials.

One good place to start with for information is [Dave’s ESL Cafe](<a href=“404 - Page Not Found - ESL”>http://www.eslcafe.com/)

If they are interested in schools where they would get some kind of certification that they can take with them to another job in another country, two websites to read through are:
[CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) | Cambridge English](CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) | Cambridge English)
[Home - English Language Professional’s Resource Guide](http://englishlanguageprofessionalsresourceguide.com/)

You might try going to Dave’s ESL Caf

My neighbor’s S is teaching English in South Korea. He’s been there for two years now and apparently really likes it. He started out at an all girls high school and got hired by a university the next year. He has a Korean gf now. His Mom worries he’ll never come home!
