Tell me somethin' good . . .

Puppy has been named Jazz and is doing well. He’s only 10 weeks old, but he seems to be taking to potty training, with only a couple of accidents in three days. He is a keeper! Our older dog (my avatar) is putting up with him very patiently, whew.

S just told me that he will be promoted to manager at the Big 4 accounting firm he works at. He is a good and kind young man who has worked so hard to overcome a learning disability and find success both academically and in the workplace. I am so proud of him! (Now he just needs to find a nice young lady!!! LOL)

Good luck, @MaineLonghorn.

My little Aussie (nicknamed Little Missy Bad Girl) is giving us a run for our money. I think my next dog will be a nice, mellow Golden Retriever!

A co-worker and I handle a large account. She was gone all week. I survived.

S1 was home after grad school for 3 days, and was offered a job he is excited to accept. He moves tomorrow, and I’m really thrilled for him. Also, he met a wonderful girl at grad school and they will be together for this next chapter of a new city and new jobs.

D2 took a grad school qual exam yesterday and is cautiously optimistic about a good result. And she is on a plane now heading here for a week of vacation with me.

The Mrs. and I were able to go for dinner for the first time in several months. Hopeful we’ve turned a page and can get back to “normal” soon.

BIL’s heart ablation seems to have gone well and he’s resting comfortably. Sent him a card and at the last minute bought BIL a book of scratch and sniff forever USPS stamps, just for fun.

Also, was at Safeway and browsing the neat section and noticed they were out of the $5 Friday ribs. I asked the guy in the meat section and he checked but couldn’t find any. He told me to pick any two packages of pre-seasoned packaged ribs that I wanted and he marked them down to $5 as a substitute.

As I checked out, I heard a familiar voice of a friend I hadn’t chatted with in perhaps a decade! We chatted a bit in the parking lot and will get together once she gets her new employee trained.

To top it off, we are having dinner with friends tonight—just arranged it spurred by socialization thread!

So re: post #365, D2’s plane landed at SeaTac within minutes of the plane theft in the news, and was held on the runway for 30 minutes. They were just told “no gate” — but of course it turns out there were no gates because they’d locked down from takeoffs & landings. Feeling lucky the guy didn’t cause an accident with another plane. I guess that is something good. :open_mouth:

The friends we dined with tonight said their D will he proposed to tomorrow!!! They will be video chatting with her right after the event! The couple has been together for 2 years. :x

Saw my webmaster today for a few hours. He fixed our website so it’s ready for our big annual event. He’s going to update the security and software too. It was nice catching up and I treated him to a nice, healthy dinner near his office. I’m very pleased at all we accomplished in just a few hours!

He gives me very reasonable prices because he knows our small org just lives on donations. He also likes to use our website as an example of what he can do. I also referred him to another client who has more money to pay him and he’s done a great job for them as well.

A few months ago I ordered my favorite decaf coffee from Amazon but they sent the wrong brand - something I’d never heard of before. They corrected it by sending me the right coffee, but meanwhile, I’ve had the wrong coffee tucked away in a cabinet since they didn’t want me to send it back. So today, I ran out of my good stuff, and decided to throw caution to the wind and try that “wrong” coffee. Oh, wow! It’s really good! I’m surprised and also very lucky - my order had been for 96 K-cups - so this mistake coffee won’t go to waste and will last me a long long time!

Had a great dinner with a nice APRN and a PhD from a pharmaceutical company. We talked for many hours happily and productively, sharing lots of good info.

Friend is waking up after a 7 week coma, following a heart surgery.

Wow. That’s a long time, @toledo. Was that medically induced, or other?

I believe it was medically induced, but I’d be surprised if they meant it to go on this long. She is finally off the ventilator, but still receiving dialysis. I don’t know if kidneys can just start back up or if this is permanent.

I haven’t asked her husband much, as I’ve always believed patients hear everything you say.

Happy for my somewhat recently graduated kid, working in politics – had a gap after the last campaign, was applying for work but nothing yet, and then out of the blue, was approached by a former colleague to work another campaign, with a raise. Yippee! I’m already sleeping better at night.

Spoke to my boy after 3 weeks in the wilderness while he was in Lisbon airport. He’s boarding the plane to America as I type. He’s promised to text when he lands!!!

Daughter really didn’t want to do her school’s free application boot camp but they rewarded the kids who signed up with a sneak peek at their fall schedules. She was able to switch out of a class with a teacher known for being an unpleasant hard*** before the rest of the class even knows they have her. She’s been working really hard so it’s nice to have something go her way.

The puppy gained five pounds in five days! He went from 14 pounds to 19 pounds. The vet said he’s not overweight, either. He is exhausting, but a joy.
