one of my kiddos has had a rough 10 months with BF, school transfer, setback in her major, and substantial medical problems. I always worry about her. So I feel happy today after reading a text from last night, saying she had a Great Night in a group she joined. yay!
Happy for you & your girl @bgbg4us
Did a radio talk show yesterday about lung disease to highlight an event we are having later this week. It seemed to go very well.
I read a quote and it was exactly what I needed to hear and repeat. I made it my phones screen saver actually. “Your wound is probably not your fault, but your healing is your responsibility” Denice Frohman.
Our health event turned out very well. The patients and exhibitors were all happy they attended and look forward to next year’s event. The speakers were excellent and very informative.
She said Yes!!! I’m gonna be a mother in law to a fabulous woman!!!
@greenbutton I think you meant, “I’m gonna be a fabulous mother in law to a fabulous woman!!!” Your enthusiasm speaks volumes.
An item on my car website is the wrong item for my car (wrong color touch up kit even though its the one they list for my car-). The company won’t take it back even though it is unused and their mistake. Am Ex said to file a claim with their return protection Assurance insurance policy but they denied it, claiming its a perishable item (um, virtually everything is perishable) and because the vendor sent the wrong item (there is no exclusion for this not on their policy description and the item they sent is what I ordered, its just an error on the website). So, long story short, I called AmEx customer service again, and since I am a longtime and good customer, they will courtesy credit me the $58+ and they will file a dispute with the company Regardless of the outcome of the dispute, I will have my $58+ courtesy credit. Thank you, AmEx. That is the right thing to do.
Local DD, DS and DDIL were here for a ‘no occasion’ dinner last evening! and they took home the leftovers!
Tomorrow D and the rest of her Peace Corps cohort leave their training city after 3 months and head to the capital for their swearing in ceremony as official Peace Corps Volunteers - all 43 of them. That’s right, none of them dropped out during training. They have dealt with no running water, no toilets, homesickness, culture shock, constant stomach issues, language barriers, monsoonal rains and the tropical heat.
The next generation is better than we think.
Yes, I love it when CCard companies take our side as consumers. H was charged $10.50 to use a payphone in the mall with his CCard! I called the CC and complained and they immediately reduced the charge to $.50, agreeing the $10.50 was absurd!
My son broke a school record at his game Friday, then found out he is tied for sixth in the state overall since high school records have been kept. He has been an athlete all his life - playing the same three sports since he was 5. This record is for a sport he never played until high school, had no intention of playing, until the coach came looking for someone when his player was injured and my son volunteered, discovered he was pretty decent at it and is now in his fourth season (he’s a senior). With any luck, he might have the opportunity to play in college.
^^If he’s a field goal kicker, he can probably jump right into the NFL based on last weekend’s missed PATs and FGs. The Browns, Vikings, and Rams all need kickers.
WOOOO!!! It’s my birthday and honestly, I don’t really care for birthdays…BUT celebrating the gift I just bought for myself and my family - tickets to see Michelle Obama on tour for her new book!!! Can’t wait!!!
Happy, happy birthday, @abasket! What a great way to celebrate!
@abasket - that’s an awesome gift!
Happy Birthday.
Congratulations, @greenbutton! I love being a mother-in-law.
@abasket - Happy Birthday! That sounds like a great way to celebrate.
@abasket Happy Birthday! Hope you have a nice day.
I love, love, love this thread.
On Tuesday my aged dog had a stroke (very common in old dogs affecting the middle ear). Vet said prognosis was very good and bring him back in two days - there will be a marked improvement. Two days later no marked improvement. Not too worry as it can take longer, says vet - but we are heading to the US in two weeks to see son - and I need the dog to be able to get into the garden to pee/poo on his own and to feed himself (currently hand feeding him) as I don’t want aged parents to do this. Aged dog has a week to improve. Not good for my mental state.
However:
I started a new role/job in September though I had worked there on a temporary contract in June and July and today one of my new colleagues phones me up and says she will have him - and lift him in and out of the garden and hand feed him if necessary.
I have a smile from ear to ear.
People - and my new colleagues - are sooooo kind.
