So glad I ran over after class and waited in line because - I got Rolling Stone tickets!
The newly approved drug that I wanted was just pre-authorized for me AND the pharmaceutical company is rolling out a special offer tonight/tomorrow so there will be NO copay for me or my dad who is on Medicare B! I’m hoping it helps both of us! It was just fda approved 11/2018.
Heard a fascinating true narrative about a guy who was a NYC prosecutor who was mugged and kidnapped on his birthday and the changes that came from that event.
S1 has been , for months, being verbally abused and harassed by an older coworker. Very sad, but S1 finally had a meeting with management and produced copies of all the emails, neatly dated and notated. I am proud of him for protecting himself and his career, even when it means outing someone he once respected. Even better, it was a female friiend who had been sexually harassed who convinced him that he, too, deserved to have boundaries respected.
@greenbutton: Sad to say, that older coworker’s behavior is not at all unusual in the corporate world. Congratulations to your S for keeping records and getting this handled. Not every company houses bullies like these, but enough of them do that I’ll never work in a corporate environment again.
My sister is a furloughed Federal worker, struggling to get by. Today, a friend, who works for the Federal govt., but is not furloughed, brought over huge packages of paper towels, toilet paper, and other home products, along with a $150 Wegman’s gift card and $50 in cash. How thoughtful!
After interviewing with many pro sports franchises around the country, S received dream job offer from his beloved hometown pro team! A job after graduation and with the team you’ve cheered for your whole life? The whole family is going bananas! Way to go kid, WAY. TO. GO!
S1 and my DIL are due to have their first baby (and my first grandchild) on January 29. S1’s best friend from growing up, who spent most weekends at our house (because his single dad was a musician and worked every weekend) just had his first baby. I feel like I’m getting two grandchildren!!
My oldest is one of two finalists for a job as COO of a national governing body (sports). Fingers crossed.
Today best I can do is being glad that I still have a paycheck for two more weeks! So many of my coworkers are furloughed. Contract has been good and trying to take care of us.
Fingers and toes crossed, @Bromfield2 !
Good luck to you kiddo @Bromfield2 !
Congratulations VeryHappy! Hope all goes well! Our own happy news is that DD is preggers; very, very early stages, but there is a heartbeat!
I really enjoy this forum and exchange of ideas and experiences etc. Thank you.
DD’19 got her braces off this week after a long 7 years of orthodontia.
Today was my last day at the interim, part-time job I started two months ago. It had politics and a Queen Bee, and at this point in my life, I really don’t want to deal with Queen Bees. I left, and she can be queen over the entire universe for all I care. It’s good to be as old as I am – I have a pension, my SS and my RMD, so we’re in good shape. I didn’t feel I had to stay for the money. I could walk away from this gig without worrying.
Just booked our flights Stateside for the summer. Heading to Asheville and the Applachians. Very excited of course not just for the holiday but S will join us for a week or so. And while the cost of the flights seems high (school holidays) we are getting the accommodation free as we are home exchanging. :)>-
My S, who is overseas on Gap Year, decided to take his laundry on a visit to his grandmother for the weekend
I was picking up my dog’s poop and noticed a pair of glasses in the leaves on the other side of the sidewalk. And a cell phone! The battery was dead but I charged it up at home and eventually (at least 5 hours later) the owner called looking for it.
It turns out he lives very close to me and he owns 2 restaurants and brought over $100 worth of gift certificates as thanks! We ate well that night, yum.
You all know what the moral of this story is - always pick up your dog’s poop and you might just find treasure!
I was able to go cross country skiing today for the first time this season after a couple of annoying foot injuries that have kept me sidelined for a couple of months. It was a perfect, sunny day for a ski through the woods. I feel rejuvenated!
