I’m a grandma, and it’s a girl!!
Congratulations, @VeryHappy
My ODS was invited to apply to law school sans-LSAT due to his academic record. He has zero interest in it but this kid that has struggled for so long is finally starting to get a little recognition! Also, he had some issues lately and managed to adult his way through them when in the past he would have buried his head in the sand. PROGRESS!!!
Happy for you Very Happ!
Wow, smak170, what a great compliment.
Just made a curtain for the bedroom.
It’s up and it hasn’t fallen down yet :-*
That will happen in the middle of the night :))
Today, got some yummy packaged cookies from a neighbor we hadn’t met before.
Got the email from WashU congratulating the son for making Dean’s List. 3 semesters in a row. And his college GPA is higher than his high school GPA. Still trying to figure that out…
@Hamurtle, your son sounds like mine! He has made Dean’s List every semester in college. I think he made honor roll only one semester in all of high school. The American University of Beirut told him that if he stays on the Dean’s List until he graduates next December, he will not have to pay anything to get his master’s degree at the school. We’re in shock!
Our S got higher grades in engineering than he did in HS and was able to get his BSEE with honors! Sadly, he was not offered a free masters degree, but congrats to @MaineLonghorn’s son!
I think many people get higher GPA’s in college for a variety of reasons. This can include being able to take more classes that are more interesting, including choices between classes that can fulfill a basic requirement and being able to adjust ones schedule somewhat to meet ones own basic internal rhythm.
All accommodation booked for our holiday in North Carolina - what a relief :)>-

Well the other day I got a check for $12+ for Citi Costco rebate and was underwhelmed (we shop there a ton). The next day, got a 3 digit rebate that seems more typical of our spending. Redeemed both.
Have been trying to get my dad’s prescription for a new drug filled for about a month now. The pharma company has tried to help and this morning they sent an email with their tollfree helpline.
I called twice, once pressing the buttons as a customer and once as a provider. Both times I was sent on an endless loop and never allowed to talk to anyone.
In frustration, I sent an email to the 4 folks i know involved in this product. They apologized but also all of them tried to use the phone number and gave me the menu selections to speak to a person. They also reported and will be fixing the problem of the endless loop.
I did speak to a person who promised to address my dad’s difficulties on Monday! Also several of the reps will be in town next week to help make others not gave the issues I’ve encountered!
I’m pleased with the very prompt responses!
A great day with my elderly aunt over the weekend. She asked me something from the deep recess of her mind, bringing me into a conversation I did not know we had started,
“What was his name? The writer that blonde girl was married to?”
I know this one: " Arthur Miller".
She taps and nods away in assent. “That’s right. That’s right.”
I mention " The Crucible," then "Death of a Salesman, " and hope Tennessee Williams’ "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof’ brings her back to me. But, no.
We are together, alone, and I would like to talk. I ask if she is familiar with Eugene O’Neil’s “Long Day’s Journey into Night,” and light a spark.
She raises her head, eyes alive, places her long lovely hands on the kitchen island and says excitedly, “Now That’s just about the best title I’ve ever heard,” as she repeats the play’s title over and over again.
“That!” she exclaims, looking deep into my eyes, “is just fantastic. Listen to the sound of it…Oh, how wonderful!”
I leaned over the island and kissed her right inside of a dimple.
My son pitched two shutout innings in a JV scrimmage and my wife made a pretty great quiche. Same night!
Just returned from a 10 day stay with my adorable 7 month old grandson. He is very, very curious so the cuddles are few and far between but he is just fascinated when I roll my tongue at him
It was 75 degrees yesterday, and the same is expected today.
my son got Maxe-Kade foundation scholarship for summer research in Germany.
