D16 transferred schools in early 2018. It set her back a year in her program, and she lost all her scholarships. It was tough. Now 3 semesters later, she has been awarded a departmental scholarship (vote of confidence for her!) and just found out she got a desirable internship in her architecture field. What a BOOST. Just happy for her; getting a little mojo back!
I was offered a Clinical Pastoral Education residency today. Changing careers at 60.
^^^ Yeah! Way to go!
@KKmama I am sure you will do great! My H did that one year, part time for one credit over the year, when he was also a nursing home chaplain. It was hard yet very rewarding work.
@KKmama - way to go!! Congrats bigly.
@bajamm This is one calendar year full time paid position. Breaking my heart to have to leave a church I love but it is time for me to move forward.
I almost think I could talk my therapist into paying my tuition!
I fully intended on picking up the check. But my kid beat me to it and wouldn’t take no for an answer. That just made the have been the tastiest meal ever.
^ “may have been”. Stupid autocorrect.
D (and team) got 2nd place in the 48hr film festival at her university.
I just had an article published in Yahoo Lifestyles written after I had been interviewed. The article turned out very informative and upbeat.
@KKmama : I’m thrilled for you!! Is this a local position, or is it in a place requiring a move or a long-distance commute?
Taxi ride from Manhattan to LGA was only 20 minutes. Better yet, no lines for check in or security.
TSA agents were smiling, friendly, and willing to joke around with me.
It’s a beautiful day!
@sherpa - are you sure you aren’t on another planet?
@greenwitch - I have no idea what’s going on. Different planet hadn’t occurred to me, but I’ll look for signs.
Edited to add: I just realized I was standing in the food pickup line, not the ordering line. And then when I tried to pay, the cashier couldn’t understand why I gave her $22 for a $6.31 purchase. So yes, this is planet earth.
We were able to park for free at the airport with my electric car. The bill would have been $216 otherwise (12 days)! We are very happy, though finding the car was a challenge, especially when tired from travel!
@VeryHappy
This is local. Move comes next year when I job hunt. A residency is pretty stressful not just with the job but it’s also a lot of psychological and spiritual analysis (group and individual) so moving out would be more stress than I need. One step at a time!
Came in second in a contest last night (there were two entries).
sun is out! birds are chirping! flowers are blooming (or about to…)!
now… if someone could do something about the wind…
My BIL was thrilled that we visited and can’t wait until we return. Just booked our next flight to visit him — it will be quite soon! His dogs are happy when we visit as well.
The nurse who took care of Dad in the ER today was truly an angel. Truly made a long day seem shorter!
