Tell me somethin' good . . .

She got the scholarship!!!

Visiting my brother who I don’t see often enough, Triple A baseball, and cold beer. Life is good.

Had a very nice meeting with a pharmaceutical rep today. He mentioned they were having a meeting in May and I told him I’d be sorry to miss it but was heading back from a scientific conference. He’s going to reschedule the meeting so I and the others attending the conference will be able to attend. My favorite pharmacist also attended today’s meeting.

The meeting later in May is to hopefully reactivate a professional respiratory organization in our state for providers.

Just talked with the lady who did our taxes. Preliminarily, it looks like we will be getting a federal tax refund because we paid too much in estimated taxes, so we bay not have to make any fed estimated taxes for 2019! It also looks like we won’t have to make state estimated taxes until September!

We won’t get to look at the documents until late next week (two more CPAs have to look it over). Anyway, I’m happy. At least no penalties and no estimated taxes. Yes, I know it’s better when we owe $0 and get $0 refund, but I don’t care.

Refunds are good. Unless it’s a huge amount, I never mind getting a refund.

Mine is a huge amount but it will be a nice change of pace not having to make estimated payments on my federal taxes. Usually, that’s a big 4 payments a year.

How I dislike those quarterly tax payments…

Yes—quarterly tax payments give you the extra anxiety of possible penalty if you’re a day (or more) late and you have to recall how to submit them if you’re doing online payments! Then you also have to contend with the incompetent IRS who loses your payment submitted on their website and tries to get you to pay all over again with penalty! Ask me how I know and how long it takes IRS to get it straight. <sigh!></sigh!>

The IRS always has a chunk of my money on hand because I always get a refund and credit it. Waste of money perhaps but I like having a couple of thousand on account in case of a mistake the next year.

Just discovered the music of Chris Stapleton and it is scratching a hole in my heart. And right now, that’s actually feeling pretty good.

After bidding and losing out on 5 houses, S1 and DIL’s bid on house #6 was accepted. They’re anxious to move into a house since they have 1 child now and another on the way. Just have to get past inspection without any major issues.

DD started out the day winning a scholarship and ended it making her first two varsity soccer goals.

We just visited with (way too briefly) DH’s cousin, who we haven’t seen in 34 years, and her 2 grown kids who we’d never met, in Israel while our tour guide got off the bus to vote. Apparently the place she votes is near the kibbutz where the cousins live.

When I mow the back lawn I need to be careful when I get close to the edge so I don’t tumble off the bluff. Today I paused as I was about to do a pass close to the edge, surveyed the horizon, and witnessed two breaching whales. As is the custom here, I immediately called the neighbors, and soon we were having an impromptu whale watching party. Life is good!

Had a fabulous Easter dinner and a chance to love on my grands. Cousins. I am so blessed. They are just so amazing. We just had a great day.

Happy to report the ebags customer service that I contacted via facebook did the right thing and arranged for the manufacturer to send me a replacement bag at no cost and they adjusted a credit to me due to a price drop. The online “chat” folks wouldn’t do a thing. Gad I didnt let it go, since the bag tore the first time i used it, and the bag has a 10 year warranty!

Wow—that’s really poor quality. Glad they’re making it right! Hopefully the new bag will be more durable.

There’s so much to like about this story -

That’s a wonderful story! I hope things work out for him, the donated money might affect his scholarships and all but he has wonderful friends and teachers helping him.

He’s taking his last undergrad final today, he accomplished his goal of winning a prize for his senior design project, and he seems content for the first time in a LONG time. I think I took 500 pictures when they announced his team for second place. Things are falling into place and I can’t wait to cheer loudly next weekend when he crosses the stage!!
