Doing Amazon returns at Kohl’s…FABULOUS!!!
I saw dolphins today on my walk
Well, both of our US Reps signed the letter to the med equipment company, asking for a moratorium on the company’s plans to withdraw a vital service until a meeting can be convened with all stakeholders to resolve the issue! It was sent out this morning!
My kid left yesterday after 6 straight weeks in our house studying for the bar exam. She used almost every public room in the house. Time to clean up - in peace!
D and SIL are adopting a puppy!
My 18 year old car passed emissions testing. Good for another 2 years.
No more emissions testing in WA!!
What… ? BB, so emissions testing doesn’t happen anymore? Good to know that pollution has been solved forever.
Most cars are newer than 20 years old. Tons of EVs and hybrids… The former never need testing, the latter always pass. In our 30 years of car ownership, we never had a fail. The government crunched the numbers and decided that it was not worth the cost to catch the minuscule number of clunkers that would fall apart soon… and they closed the testing stations. The cars driving to the testing stations and back just to get a pass were probably creating more pollution that said clunkers.

I am happy. No more biannual hassle.
Two years ago my (then) 16 year old car failed because of the gas cap. I had to go buy a new one even though mine clear made a big wooshing sound when taking it off. Other than that it has always passed (including when I lived in California). It is a private company that runs the state program, and it is definitely a rip off. I’d rather they just add the $25 to the cost of registration and give the money to the company as a bribe.
My brother has a lot of old VW buses. Those older than 1976 are ‘vintage’ cars so don’t require the testing. It’s his 1977-1985 cars that are most likely not to pass.
We had a car that didn’t pass (around 14 years old) and needed a new catalytic converter. Our state requires emissions tests in ten counties, most in the north part of the state and near the bigger cities, while the rural areas don’t require it. Our 16 and 17 year old cars passed this year. It is always a relief!
WHY is Washington always a step ahead of Oregon??!!
DH and I celebrated a milestone anniversary yesterday. We took the day off of work and spent it together looking for a motorhome. Turns out we have a Class A lifestyle and a pop up budget. Nice to know we still enjoy each others company!
@BunsenBurner , thanks for the explanation.
This morning my almost 2-1/2 year old grandson told me, “I love you, Nana!”
Eldest has his first real full time job for about two years now. He felt richer than he is and got himself a little too tight financially. He shared what he was doing to dig out and his longer term plans about two weeks ago. Yesterday he was promoted! In six months his salary will be DOUBLED! It’s just amazing to me that when he made decisions intentionally to improve his finances, the universe responded
I went on a “July diet” and lost 9 pounds! I ate tons of peaches, watermelon, tomatoes and other seasonal goodies. It wasn’t drastic, but it’s easier to go hungry for a while if you know there’s a delicious peach waiting for you later.
One more week to go and then we’re off on vacation. Hopefully, I’ll only gain a little bit back. But there’s no way I’m going to Sweden and not having a few cardamom buns!
Day started out with a few challenges, then followed by finding a screw in my tire (and I am a bit fritzy about any place lifting the car and damaging the battery). And it was the end of the day. But, took it to a nearby tire place, and… the screw was only in the tread and hadn’t punctured the tire! Whew!
Well, so far things are looking good. The company who threatened to take away and substitute my medical equipment vs MD orders had their national HQ make automated call to my home. The call is the same one I’ve been getting monthly for the past 3 years that as long as I confirm delivery by calling them back on the phone that they left the message on by Friday, they will deliver on Wednesday.
I’m not positive whether or not they really will deliver or just forgot to take me off the automated service, but it’s a hopeful sign.
Maybe they read the letter from my US Reps and want to stay on the US Reps good side?!?! One can only hope. We are working on a 2nd letter to gather data for a meeting to better address and resolve the issue, especially for our very remote state.
@jym - I also found a screw in my tire today, as I drove off, all rattley with a completely flat tire! I backed up and a nice man across the street offered to put on the spare. He was on his lunchbreak from painting a house. He was very helpful and I gave him some money although he tried to refuse.
H and I brought the car to a local mechanic, who had serviced the care just 2 days ago, and he fixed it right then and refused to charge us! Really restores my hope in humanity.
