Tell me somethin' good . . .

Of my two daughters, one has know since she was 16 what she is passionate about, and has found success in a great career. The other daughter couldn’t figure out what she wanted to do, but followed a challenging trajectory in hopes of securing a well paying job,

Unbeknownst to us, she figured out what she wanted to do a year after completing her Master’s, took classes to become marketable in this field, and just received a job offer for her dream job. It’s in a great field, and she will have a profitable career ahead of her.

Bought two lovely dresses at a discount at Ross and further 10% senior discount, so under $80 for 2 dresses marked a total of over $244. Also they will be delivering the portable nebulizer I ordered instead of me having to drive out there again (drove out there when they mistakenly told me it was ready for pick up last week–two hours I won’t get back). My price was $4.09 instead of $157 like the last one I had purchased!

Just ate some fresh/locally grown roasted chestnuts–they were delicious! (It has been many years since I’ve had chestnuts.)

Went out for dinner with DS and DIL at my favorite (fairly pricey) restaurant. And they picked up the tab. The generations have moved to equality…

My son was just offered his dream job of coordinating player development for a MLB team in the Dominican Republic! While wanting it very much, having just graduated in May, he didn’t think they would offer him such a big, challenging job. So happy they see the potential we do. Super proud of him!

Plant sale to support our local HealthyYards.org is underrway! Our little bit to encourage yards that support pollinators with native plants without pesticides.

I just book an early flight for next year, I will traveling with my cousins. This is our yearly get together. Also, I got a new [pet carrier](Search results: 18 results for “carriers” – Pet Street Mall) for my dog.

Just bought a new car!! The last one I had, we bought used in 2005, so this is A Very Big Deal!

Although it was a scary situation, just had an emergency heart cath requiring 3 stents. Avoided a triple bypass, no heart damage, and I feel much better. Dodged a major cardiac event so all in all very happy!

^^ Oh my, thank goodness you’re ok!

@abasket Thank you!

I got “ booed” last night. The doorbell rang and someone had left me a bucket full of treats. This morning I picked a plastic pumpkin and some fun stuff so I can “ pass it on”.
Small thing , but it made me smile ?.

So happy that you passed your New York Bar exam, first try ?. Enjoy your first day of working!

Yesterday, at the train station, a young man saw me looking at the stairs with my big suitcase. He asked if I needed help and proceeded to carry my heavy bag down the flight of steps for me (along with his own bags). When nice things like this happen, it renews my faith in humanity!

D just negotiated her salary offer and got more than the original offer!

Can’t tell you what a relief it’s been that my daughter has adjusted to college like a fish to water. She’s loving it and living her best life. Though I miss her like crazy, I’m so proud to watch her spread her wings and fly.

I have a story. My mother in NC made a baby quilt for her best friend’s new granddaughter in NJ in 1985. Granddaughter grows up and moves to SD because horses. Her mom and dad eventually retire there around 2013 taking baby quilt along. I mean…they still have it!! Her mom, my mom’s best friend, moves there to assisted living around 2015 and she gets the quilt as a lap blanket. When she passed away, her daughter packed it up and sent it to me for my granddaughter. Isn’t that sweet? The traveling baby quilt.

@VaBluebird – what a wonderful story! You truly created an heirloom for your friend’s family. This is why I quilt, too! I want those quilts loved, not put on a shelf.

I was irked that H and I (and everyone on our flights) had very poor entertainment on our United flights (not enough strength on the server to serve all the customers on the plane)—HNL to LAX and then LAX to IAH. I sent United.com feedback complaining and got $100 flight credit for H and me for each flight, so $400 credit total!

On our flight MSY to IAD, H and I were each upgraded to 1st class and got served a nice lunch on the plane!

All in all, feeling pretty happy with United right now!

Although she still has auditions in front of her, D’s application / prescreen submit process is OVER! Now we just have to figure out and pay for this crazy audition season for musical theater / acting. So far, 11 auditions in Jan / Feb.
