A few weeks ago I was driving one of my cars in a rainstorm and the passenger side windshield wiper blade stopped working. Thankfully the driver’s side worked, but it was pretty disconcerting.
I considered calling the Mercedes dealership but hesitated, knowing it would cost $200+ just to visit them.
So today I dropped by the local auto body shop to see if they’d take a look at it, figuring those guys are monkeying with stuff like that all day long.
The manager said “we don’t have time to do much today, but pull it into the bay and we’ll see if there’s a part we need to order; that way we’ll be ready for you next week.
Five minutes later it was fixed, and they refused payment.
You don’t see customer service like that very often.
That’s the kind of place that deserves business (though I hope you won’t ever need any auto body work). Maybe you can give them a nice review at yelp or somewhere. You can’t comment on their body work, but you could say they are exceptionally helpful.
Consider bringing a box of donuts or something over to the garage this morning as a thank you. Also agree with the above about writing a nice review on yelp.
“ Gerry Rogers, the owner of Petals Edge Floral Design in Alexandria, was among the business owners who decided to offer a treat for people in Stephens’ position. She gave away bouquets of flowers through the close of business Friday.
“My father was a 35-year career foreign service officer with USAID. I know that agency intimately,” Rogers said. “I can understand how many of the people in this position must be feeling, whether it’s anger, despair, sadness.”
Something really good for some people! Interesting happening in a near by small town. Amazon Fresh put a market out there. But, as things go, it didn’t perform the way they had hoped so late this past week they announced they were closing March 16. Well. The lines of people waiting to go in on Friday was amazing. One lady posted that she waited in line from 6:30 a.m. till 11 a.m. when she got in and then didn’t check out till 1:45 pm! But the savings people posted. And brand name stuff! I’m talking hundreds of dollars and even some over a thousand. Posted the receipt so we could see it. Crazy! There is no way I could have done that physically. LOL.
“My Amazon haul!! I got almost $1,100 & paid $130”
“I got $980 worth of groceries for $99.00”
"Bought over $2000 worth of food and other items for less than $200 bucks "
We flew into Palm Springs yesterday on Southwest and due to our first flight being delayed DW and I were the last 2 on the plane, so we both got middle seats away from each other.
I was seated between two women, both 30 years or so younger than me. When we were coming in for the landing, the woman to my right was visibly nervous. I started talking her through it, and it seemed to be working, things like “we’re almost down, it’s going smoothly, it’s almost over.”
Then, right before touching down, the pilot unexpectedly accelerated and began ascending again, and did a big 10 minute circle before finally landing.
My new friend was having a really hard time with this. We continued talking and she was getting extremely nervous.
Then I did something that surprised both of us. Without asking, I cautiously took her hand. She reciprocated by placing her other hand over mine and with both hands tightly held my hand. I then added my other hand, and for the rest of the flight our four hands were tightly interlocked.
I took a risk, doing something that could have been seen as inappropriate, but her tears confirmed it was definitely the right thing to do.
I used to be a terribly nervous flier, @sherpa, and I would have truly appreciated your comfort, totally understanding where it was coming from. Thanks for taking that risk.
S ran a race today. It was a huge number of runners- over 23,000, but he was number 17xx. He placed in the top fifth in his very competitive age group ( Men 25-29).
He does work out and is in shape. But he hasn’t done a lot of running lately.
This is the kid who never found his sport as a kid, hated PE and was bullied for not being athletic. I’m so proud of him!
I have an S like that. A few years ago, he began weight training, and he has never looked or felt better. It makes us moms so happy when our kids find the things that make them happy.
A rat took out our A/C and managed to zap himself in the process. Our regular repairman quoted $1000 and 4 days to get the part and install it. I made six calls to other dealers unitl I found another repair guy who was able to get the part overnight and install it for $600. It’s 90 degrees and my house is starting to cool down.
DW and I just returned from visiting our kids in New York City. We ate like never before. We followed the kid’s recommendations and had the best sushi and Chinese we’d ever had, as well as great Thai, Korean and Italian food.
I kept trying to pick up the tab but those sneaky kids always beat me to it.
