Telluride Association Summer Program ( TASP ) 2008

What essays did you guys have? Mine was about originality vs. improvement of pre-existing concepts/products.

I keep getting distracted for ten minutes at a time, missing out on somebody replying to my comment. ):

yay people. lucky i had a crappy essay when i took the sat’s.

Why lucky?

cuz i had some dumb essay on “whether high school athletics should be required for all students” can you say FCAT writes.

like i waste my time worrying and prepping for this test. and then it asks what is 2+2 is in written form.

What? I would have loved that question! Mine was so vague and ambiguous, i had to write about how revolutionary new ideas were compared to improvements. Like how telephone was great, cellphone not as great. I could go into more detail, but it gets boring.

but i rather have a challenge.

I’m doing college research right now(really just me going to Wikipedia and following every link in every article I run into). Anyway, I cannot wait to go to college; it seems so exciting, like what high school is supposed to be.

I guess I’m the take the easiest way out kinda person. Then again, it is THE SAT’s. I mean, this thing dictates my entire future, so I don’t care about the challenge, more so the highest score I can get

St. Hudson, I do the same thing while researching colleges. =] One of the first places I visit is their wikipedia article.

My first SAT was the January one as well. I had the one on creativity vs. building on old ideas. My essay was pretty much all opinion and no facts and only a few examples. I mentioned Benjamin Franklin and that was pretty much it. =/

Was it as hard for you as it was for me, Shuffle? I really didn’t start writing until ten minutes in, and by that time, I had to rush to just write a little bit over a page. Nice to know someone else shared my experience

Can I ask sth? Were we supposed to print out our apps after we sent in? Cuz the applying online button’s gone and if that’s the case, I’m screwed double time.

I didn’t print my app, but I saved my essays on my computer. I did print the “confirmation of my submission” page, however. Did you save your essays to your computer?

you should be able to reach your essays. like you have them saved on your computer or something. personal information and rankings and stuff you can find later on, on like your school sites and stuff.

i cant remember if they wanted you to have them but seems like something they would ask for.

Would the really ask for you to provide your essays? Wouldn’t they have it?

they bring their own copies to the interview. but you should have your essays somewhere so you can review them if you do get an interview. chances are you wont remember exactly what you wrote like two months ago.

So the interviews are really focused on the essays you wrote, huh? I thought they would come up, but I didn’t think that they would be the focal point.

yeah, but they hit other points but i guess it depends on the person’s stats. like if your big on volunteering they might discuss that. but the essays might be the starting point.

I’m curious if they would get somebody who has read the book I did my critnal on. I mean, if they are the type of institution that flies interviewers around the country, i think they might choose each interviewer specifically, in order to be the best match for the interviewee.

i dunno, cuz it is people in telluride and they range from college kids to grown people. i know for like tass, we had to pick something like the critical but i did it on a scene in the movie Blow and i just ended up explaining it to my interviewer.

ok i’m back. hmmm…interviews… hope i get one of those
