and you said it was lame! ha

Never.

I’ve been tempted to try grilling a PB&J a la grilled cheese… I figure I already like grilled cheese with jam/jelly/preserves, why not peanut butter? My mom said she tried it once and didn’t like it, but we have very different tastes.

I bet the toasting is actually really good, stiffens up the bread so it doesn’t get as chewy and sticky in your mouth… It’s a brilliant idea. I’ll have to try it next time.

:: local news comes on ::

New Yorker burns down her home attempting to grill a PB&J sandwich.

:: omg that’s cira!! ::

Maybe if it was just a little tart, grape jam would be okay? It just needs a little bite to it so it doesn’t descend into a doughy, sticky, sweet, oozy mess. A wine jelly maybe… Or would that also violate the spirit of the sandwich?

I’m not that clumsy, Panic. I can work the stove nicely!

I seem to meet a fellow PB&J enthusiast!
I’ve never tried a grilled cheese with preservatives before. Hmmm, this could be a meeting of two worlds. I have no reservations proclaiming my PB&J connoisseur status, but I dare not claim to know all of the secrets of the Grilled cheese. There are so many variables! There must be thousands of cheeses to chooses from, not to mention breads. PB&J is mostly restricted to breads that can be found in your local supermarket, but a Grilled Cheese sandwich can have foreign breads! Like from France and such.

Grilled cheese is definitely the haute couture sandwich of our childhood. I shudder at the thought of the American cheese and Wonder Bread variety… I like a nice oozy mozzarella-raspberry combo (Raspberries are awesome!) on this really dense sourdough bread my dad makes… Or a swiss (gruyere if we have it) melted with chardonnay, probably with strawberry on nice crusty sesame seed Italian bread.

Also, I’m just really good at talking forever about totally random things. Especially food! I love food.

omg you two are on another level. either way i must disappear my parents are coming to the realization that i am Not passing calculus, and i cannot give them the answers they want…

night all!

Newcomer on these boards
I applied to TASP and slaved my way through six essays and a lot of north korea jokes, (Whooooo, Pyongyang!!!), but I had no idea that there are people out here so extraordinarily dedicated to a summer program.
You all make me feel like an underachiever

We all just don’t have lives. Welcome aboard!

Congratulations, Cira. You have to buy me a new keyboard, because my brain just melted all over it. (:
I feel so impotent in the sandwich field compared to you!

Just as an idea, what do you guys think is the potential of a small food store dedicated to nothing but PB&J sandwiches? I’ve contemplated a hobby for my retirement(yes, I’m a teenager that thinks about retiring. Want to fight about it?), and this idea has always and a soft spot in my heart.

What is today, Fresh Meat day?
Hi, Lei123.

I’m just giving your crap-stuffed-between-bread part of your brain a workout! If we’re in TASP together, I’ll cook things for you and explode your taste buds. (:

It might be a little narrow… Maybe all delicious sandwich supplies? You could have a sandwich bar! It would be very exciting. It would probably have to be in a big-ish city… It’s an awesome idea, though.

PS High five for fathers with horrendous jokes. My dad is skilled in the art of pun-ishment. That’s one of his favorites.

Sandwich bar…hmm…I’m in!
I must enhance my knowledge of all that is sandwich at once.
I feel that I must draw a line though: no meat. Only sandwiches that require no meat are for sale!

I have no idea how Pyongyang can be funny. (:
Enlighten me, Lei123.

Not even a little ham for a croque messieur? You haven’t lived until you’ve tried one.

But I’ve got to be unique, like jazz hands!
I’m afraid to say, but I need to go. Night!

Night!

Weird: All my bookmarks seem to have disappeared… ):

I did the Cheney hunting approach in applying to summer programs, but then I had a friend who told me to take the Yanji river approach to life - look straight across the river to China and RUN RUN RUN!!!

Hey, I’m back after not reading the thread for what appears to be like 300 pages, so you very likely don’t remember me…I just stopped keeping up after apps were due. So yeah, when do you guys think we’ll get notified about interviews? I heard something about people having called in last year, does anyone know if people will be doing that this year or not? I really hope everybody on here gets interviews, that would be so cool!

Max, we can call in next friday, someone emailed Ellen Baer. I’m sure the number is on the website.

darn, im so nervous. i hope i get chosen for interview…
the thing is that I live in thailand… well, we’ll see how they deal with that. either they’ll reject me or figure out a way for an interview…
darn, the suspense is killing me

Thailand? That’s awesome! I imagine they could do the interview over the phone or by webcam or something. They’ll work it out if it’s meant to be.

One week! I think I’m going to be on the verge of vomiting for next seven days…
