I’m sorry… (Wow, you’re tall. I’m jealous) Your shyness in the dating department is a little stunning. I would have pictured you saying, “Alright, listen up, b***. You’re cute, you like me, you’ll do. Tell me about yourself in 300 words or less. Points *will be deducted for poor grammar. Go.”

hey…i was just wondering - are they emailing now or do we have to wait until the 7th?
and yes, uihave checked the website, and i couldn’t find the date, but some people have already heard, so i was basically just wondering what was going on. (run on sentence)

The general rule is probably still the seventh, although Ellen Baer is going to be in the Pacific Northwest mid-March, so it looks like they’re getting their notifications now so they have more than 5 days to prepare for their interviews.

what would u wanted him to say porna? i have the feeling that ur not the type of girl who likes guys who leaves flowers in her car…

and for TASP, no news is good news

i’m in the PNW and i haven’t recieved anything yet…

Earil: Oh trust me, tall is bad when you’re a girl. Being notably shorter than the guy you’re interested in is just as much of an asset as having large breasts (and censor THAT, CC).

I’m like that in every department, Earil (in friendship, and especially in arguing), but loving the same person without hope for 5 years is a kind of caged-rat-getting-electrocuted scenario. A rat that keeps getting electrocuted will eventually stop trying to run or escape the pain, and even when a method (like pressing a lever) is provided that the rat knows will stop the shocks, the rat won’t bother to institute the method. “Constant defeat takes the heart out of our mounts”, and all that rot (quote’s from King of the Wind). I never dated because I only noticed one person, and consequently I never learned how to date. It’s a vicious cycle.

Oddly enough, if it’s a perfect stranger, I’m fine (as my only boyfriend thus far has proved. Met him at a Debate tournament; he’s from Pennsylvania). But with people I know, it’s just weird (like I said, the guy I was talking about really doesn’t do much for me). For God’s sake, I’VE asked a guy that I met after 5 minutes (but he turned out to be a faux-British narcissist, so it wasn’t a terribly wise strategy). Oh, Jewish Boy, you’ve ruined me for life and you’ll never even know.

D-Yu: I wanted him to fing say, “Want to go to a movie tomorrow? Want to go get coffee after drama Monday? Want to go to the zoo and let all the animals run free?” That’s what I fing wanted. That’s what girls want; we want you to ask us out. We are TAUGHT that you will ask us out, and you don’t because you’re cowards (as can be proved by my gorgeous, actual-model friend who has never been asked out).

Leaving flowers in a girl’s car… That actually strikes me as a little bit creepy. Would the note read “I love you and I know how to pick locks. Please don’t resist, it’s better for us both that way. heart”

I’m like that with people in general. I’m shy with people that I kind of know, and totally open and outgoing with people I’m just meeting. Not exactly conducive to dating when you meet approximately one person a year…

Porna, you’re totally right. I think we’ve raised boys to be new age wimps. Muster up some courage and talk to girls you like! We mostly don’t bite (unless you like that…?).

is this another one of ur outuendos porna?

I think it might be a Dr. Seuss reference, intentional or not.

…Actually, it was just “Want to go to the zoo and let all the animals run free?”. Nothing else, but you may interpret as you please.

okay…
scribbles on notepad *ask…girl…don’t…be…wimp…" ok got it now (for future reference ;))

Elmo, a little male perspective on dating? Are Porna and I just surrounded by duds or is there a deeper trend sweeping the nation?

A Porna Pespective: No, it’s the whole nation. Why do you think dating has virtually vanished on college campuses? Why do you think the dating service industry is booming? Women wait for guys to ask them out, and they don’t. Men wait for girlfriends to magically appear or just get along with one-night-stands, and then they’re 40 and they’re alone. Society encourages flakiness; dating is a (however infinetely unbinding) commitment.

Ugh, college boys too? That just extinguished my second-to-last hope. My last hope is apparently middle schoolers. When you’re petite you appeal to a younger demographic. ):

When you’re 5’ 8" you only appeal to the 5’ 11" 's and up, which there are few very of at my school who aren’t jocks (we have lots of jocks). Take whom you can get, Earil.

a little male viewpoint would help…it falls into 3 classes
class A - the cocky guys, somehow thinks that he doesn’t need to ask girl out, that she will automatically follow him and then have a one-night stand

class B - when a guy is friends with a girl but doesn’t kno how she will react when he asks her out or “take it to the next level”

class C - these guys are plain scared $hitless about asking girls either cuz they never have before or has been rejected

I can’t even get them! They decide I’m too old for them. Except this freshman on the soccer team, but that’s worrisome because the soccer team is notorious for its drug problems… Not something I want to be even remotely involved with.

I can’t help but think that being scared to ask someone out is probably the dumbest fear ever. Worst case scenario: You still don’t have a date with them.

don’t worry, u always have ur psuedo-romantic relations with don by PM :D

Ahh!
Earil and Hudson would be cute together; based on their pictures (and personalities). ![]()
But you know how those Don Juans/Casanovas/Libertines are.

I’m feeling a little better now; thanks for the hugs everyone.

I’ll ignore that and spare you… for now.

Porna, your take on the just friends scenario? Personally, I’ve never encountered it. If a guy is date able, he’s date able, regardless of your past relationship with him. Kind of funny, actually, my male best friend thinks oppositely… Hurray for breaking cultural cliches.

The Porna Rebuttal on The 3 Classes:

F*** A. Better still, let them f*** each other; that’s all they’re useful for. However, they can be surprising gentle with a skillful girlfriend at the reins (my faux-Brit a**hole has been remarkably tempered this year by his first longtime girlfriend).

B: Cowards. If only they knew that there is no such thing as an uncomplicated male-female “friendship” unless one or both are gay. Females look at males just as sexually as males look at females. Remember that the only reason girls aren’t caught checking out guys while they talk is that women have a larger field of vision biologically, so they can appear to look at your face while really looking at your chest.

C - See above with an addition of 1 German beer for courage.

Earil: No such thing as “just friends” between girls and boys unless the guy/girl is incredibly ugly, weird in a totally anti-sexy way, or gay. And I just managed to fall backwards off my stool for no reason whatsoever.
