Telluride Association Summer Program ( TASP ) 2008

Alamode, I can’t remember amongst all the rejections and acceptances, but what is you status? Good, I hope.

Too cold and wet. The ice is falling off the side of the house. I thought about doing it later tonight… I don’t know. It’ll depend on how I feel once I turn off the computer and am really alone with myself and my failure.

[Carbonating at Home with Improvised Equipment and Soda Fountains](Carbonating at Home with Improvised Equipment and Soda Fountains)

I need to learn how to make my own gourmet pops and seltzers now.

I’m sorry, but math is on that webpage, and unless I’m i precal class, mathematics and I are on a need-to-know basis, i.e. we don’t talk. (:

It’s kind of reading like a chemistry lab. I am intrigued. I wonder if I could convince my dad that we need to try this…

my status is currently MIA haha
no email, no letter, and way too chicken to actually call up
to hear rejection’s cold-hearted voice?
not appealing!

For those of you who are confused about the “Phantom Limb” track from my make-believe album…it just refers to the state of delusion that is junior year (whether you have been physically chopped up into pieces or not…) ;)

Gourmet pop…now /that’s/ a concept.

What do you make of our position, alamode? Good or bad? Do you think no news equals rejection, or that there is still hope? For the sake of my mental health I need an answer!

…That would be a great experience to write about in your college essay. “Since the ninja attack, I’ve only been able to write by holding a pencil in my mouth and wiggling my neck. This experience has really taught me how to be a better, bigger person- even if I’m only 2’7’’ now without my legs.”

I’m thinking some kind of vanilla raspberry combo? Or something really weird- only very slightly sweet celery cucumber, to serve on a hot summer’s day.

Oh, and here, kiddo and I thought you were a fellow shins fan, fridge.

With that, children, I must leave. Today has been fantastic, and I mean that in all honesty. I don’t believe in fate, but it was raining today, which is my favorite kind of day, so I knew something bad must happen to counterbalance this beautiful day. In the end, I can go on without TASP. College apps must be done(Deep Springs!), money must be made, and possible trips will be taken. Not to mention some seriously good tunes by Monday.

And if this all sounds like me rationalizing to myself, then you win the prize. (:

Adieu, adieu, to you, and you, and you!

As an intruder, giving unbiased advice:

JUST CALL THEM!! If you are going to sulk, might as well now than later.

Be a man!! Or a woman!!

BTW, I’m really interested in CASP, particularly the $9999 stipend.

Bye Donny. You’re an awesome person for handling this the way you did. Sleep well!

hmmm wink idk. i’m pretty sure mine is a rejection but thats because my essays sucked, and I know it.

theres always hope though!

I hate phone calls

unless theyre with people I like

I don’t think I’m going to like that TASP lady who gives out lots of rejections to cool people

so thanks marimare, but I’ll pass

I can’t call, because their offices open after I leave for school and close before I return home. Cell phone usage during school is a suspendable offense (I don’t have one anyway).

So email it is.
And yes, there is some hope yet!

And you all are awesome people, probably some of the most intelligent I’ve ever had the pleasure of discoursing with. It’s funny how we rejects continue to dominate this thread…

if you have a fav teacher ask to use their phone at the beginning or end of class.

I would but I really don’t have a lot of time between classes, what with the walking between buildings and all. And I wouldn’t want to be in a grumpy mood for the rest of the school day (dammit–calculus test 6th period). But I sent the email this afternoon anyway, so I should be expecting a reply tomorrow…or crosses fingers a letter.

Besides, I face almost certain rejection. Why not delay the inevitable misery a bit more? (Okay, that makes me sound like I would be suicidal if rejected…not the case, just very disappointed.)

Definitely. Rejects all the way!!

I knew it was a bad day today. I kind of skipped school… I’ve been tired and icky all week, so I made my mom let me stay home today. It was a good decision… I had a lot of time alone to work things out, and now I feel pretty alright. It’s disappointing, but it’s just another challenge I have to be creative at in solving- how do I make my summer rock anyway?

Yeah, there are times when I need MH (mental health) days too…

As for the summer, if I don’t find another program or anything, I think I will devote myself to some sort of art project… I’ve never taken an art or writing class in my life, but I think it would be cool to explore some of the more creative (as opposed to analytic) aspects of myself. I’ve recently started drawing as a hobby, and I just got an oil painting set, yet unopened, for Christmas, as well as a digitial camara. I’ve always wanted to write a collection of short stories or something. I think I’m just going to spend some time relaxing, reading, learning, etc.

I could do some serious vineyard experimenting. Leaf plucking, suckering, fruit dropping, all sorts of things… I think I’ll talk with my dad about it tomorrow, and we can come up with something cool to do.

That sounds cool! See? Who needs TASP? :p

Not me! Not even a little. Heck, if we do something really amazing, and we document and write it up really well, we might even be able to get it published in one of his vineyard/winery magazines. Take that, Telluride! You won’t get my name in print.
