Telluride Association Summer Program ( TASP ) 2008

I should get going to bed…
Good night to anyone who is still here!

Actually, if anyone is interested, I just finished uploading fuzzy images of a bunch of sketches I’ve made over the past couple of weeks. I’d be happy to share, just drop me a PM…but don’t laugh, I’m just a beginner! ;)

yeah…so i haven’t gotten anything either…
but, you guys (as in, the frequent posters) seem so cool. i just perused a bit on here in hopes of postponing studying for a chem test - and the CASP seminar offerings might have been the funniest thing i’ve heard all week.
and in the face of rejection, i certainly needed a good laugh.
wow, this sucks, but hopefully a good weekend will help me get over it.

Earilmadith: the Mendel of Grapes…
You will go far, my friend…

Hlover, we live to entertain. If you are rejected, you should join us (the rejects club). We are always looking for new members; think of our “exclusive” little group as the bright side to rejection…And there are always those CASP seminars, of course :)

Good night all.

I’d love to see your sketches! Do you still have my email address?

Earil, yes, I still have your email.
I’ll send them first thing tomorrow when I get home from school…
I’m glad someone is willing to appreciate high art. :p

I’m so glad that I can feel this unfazed about the whole TASP deal.
I feel a little bit freer now, a little less neurotic.
This has possibly opened up my entire summer to new possibilities.

pm or email me your sketches!

I really wanted to do a program this summer because I’ve never been to sleepaway camp or anything like that and I wanted to experience life away from home this summer.
but I don’t think I’m going to apply to any other programs because I don’t think my family can pay $3000-$5000 or whatever
I might take classes at FIT again this summer
and just read that huge list of books I haven’t been able to read because of school, hang out, get another job, and volunteer
and hopefully I’ll have my jr license by summer, so I’ll at least have that amount of freedom. last year was sucky since both my parents work and I had no rides anywherreee!
see! if I went to TASP I wouldnt be able to utilize all my new driving privileges!

Sure thing, alamode.
Okay, now I /really/ need to go to bed.
Good luck with notifications tomorrow!
cross your fingers!

seriouslyyyy though i am prepared for the worst

i wonder how long they take to respond to email…

Haha I like it. the positive attitude to TASP rejections.
ive read some 100+ pages (as a way of consoling myself) and you guys are some wonderful ppl. cant believe that quite a lot of you got rejected.

i like the artsy plan of wink’s. i was thinking smth along the lines of that.

 1. write a novel
 2. contemplate on the meaning of life
 3. check out summer sales
 4. read books that i have been wanting to for a long time
 5. work on my IB extended essay on the use of stream of consciousness of virginia woolf / james joyce
 6. possibly pass piano grade 7/8 test. i don’t know much about it though
 7. sleep late (not that i don’t do that already) and wake up late.

but possibly, my Carnegie mellon summer diversity program will somehow work out, even though i don’t have a green card. (hint hint: there is about 0.000000000001% that i would get in)

sighh. i have toefl tomorrow. how fun.

did you guys apply for other programs as well?

hm good morning
I just got my letter via air post and I’m in the second round
When I saw the small standart size envelope I was prepared for a reject…
I wonder whether there is anybody not from europe on here who applied to tasp 08.

It says they received more than 725 apps and accepted 140 into the second round.
Good luck to all you guys

Attempting to maintain a list of interviewees, hoping I didn’t miss anyone…

Hi, I got my letter telling me that i’m getting interviewed as a finalist!!! :)

However…I have a problem…

My computer has crashed and all of its memory has been erased since January!! So now I dont have any of my essays or book list or absolutely ANYTHING!! I know the interview is based largely on the application (I applied online) so what should I do? Should I call them and ask them for a copy of my app or what? I know what I put in my application, I just cant remember everything in detail!

Any suggestions?

Hey quick question
how are they going to interview me considering the fact that I’m german and living in a small hicktown nobody finds on the map?
Is it going to be a phone i.?
and to the past Taper’s on here: What do they ask for during the interviews? About your essays and app.,current politics or whatever they want to?

I think that internationals are automatically interviewed on the phone. The lady asked me if I was traveling to the states anytime soon, in which case I could get a physical interview -_-

09910745, the application is saved on the TASP login site. If you still have the confirmation e-mail that was sent, it links to a site where if you click around you get sent back to the application page.

Unfortunately, i no longer have the confirmation email…

what should I do???

Hi, I just thought I’d share that I’ve offcially been rejected. Good luck to the rest of you…

Omg, i’m am so relieved!!
I was able to log back onto the application site!!

As a general question, is it ok if we’ve changed any of our opinions since writing our application? I mean, is it “OK” if in our interview we dont have the same opinions as are outlined in our essays???

Also, is it formal (do I have to go in a suit, etc?) and where are they generally held? A Caf

Oh man… Friday hour’s 9-3. I’m pretty sure I didn’t get in. :(

hugs Wink lots

09910745, from what I’ve heard, the interview vary greatly. You might meet with a couple of college students in a juice bar, or with like, a panel of lawyers somewhere more formal.

Just support your current opinions and explain why they’ve changed, and I’m sure it’ll be fine.

Wink, I’m so sorry. I just can’t believe that pretty much all of us were rejected. ):

09910745, I doubt they’ll just walk out of the interview if you changed your opinions. If anything, they’ll switch sides, taking on your former position as their own. making you still analyze and break down your essays.

The interviews aren’t formal either. Just don’t show up in your pajamas of course. Be yourself, which sounds lame, but is honest.
