Telluride Association Summer Program ( TASP ) 2008

I know. It’s kind of funny isn’t it? Rejects will rule the world!
I was expecting a part of me to die…but surprisingly, I am really okay with it.
More than okay! I feel kind of…great…like a burden has been lifted…

I’m still working on my CASP application ;)

Cira, I was thinking today about taking a summer researching jams and their science; shut up, I’m being serious. Anyway, seeing as your the de facto vineyard expert on the thread, can you tell me whether jam vineyards exist?

Definitely.

So instead of going outside last night, I started making an EPIC TASP FAIL mixed CD. It’s not done yet, but if you guys want to hear it when it is, I shall be happy to share it with you.

A lot of people grow grapes for Welch’s here, actually. You’ve probably eaten the fruits of their labor before. (: It’s not terribly good for the farmers, since they get locked into these contracts and then fruit prices fall and they’re kind of screwed. Maybe I’m wrong about this, but I think the term vineyard is reserved for wine grapes. There are wine jellies, also delicious, but that’s another story.

I’m going to do some research on other free summer programs.

If I find anything, I’ll let you know. But it seems that, for pretty much everything, you have to be either black or Native American. It’s funny how it’s perfectly OK for minority groups to place restrictions on race like that, but imagine how much backlash there would be against a program to promote whites or Asians in education…

Earil, I would love to listen…

Yes, let EPIC TASP FAIL wave over your body.
I just made some cookies. Store-bought, I’m afraid. Please don’t be ashamed of me Cira, they just looked so good. (:

Wink, of course it’s fair! Everyone knows that you shouldn’t be judged by the content of your character, but by the color of your skin.

It’s not particularly hardcore, as the songs that lend themselves best to rejection CD’s tend to be of the soft and pretty variety.

glare Donny, I expected better of you. (Don’t tell anyone, but you know those frozen Pillsbury cookies they sell around the holidays, with snowmen in different coloured dough in the middle? I love them.)

Because AA and all that doesn’t imply that ethnic minorities can’t achieve as much as whites and Asians, so they have to be helped along, right?

St. Hudson, +1 for insightful comment. i feel the same way about my rejection.

Hold up, before I’m credited, I should say that that quote is directly from MLK, in case anybody thought I was plagiarizing.

No, I think we all figured that it came from one of those great proponents for equality, Donny.

Jam science… Are you going to branch out to the other fruits with it, or stick to grapes still?

are there any internationals in this thread?
Reading over my essays, I think i’ll have a hard time talking about them, they are very personal and freakish ( finding out my granpa was an SS soldier in Italy in '44 for personal conflict …)

As far as wine and jam, a silent ironic hurrah for the german drinking legislation ( 16 years for beer and wine, de facto it’s 14…)

Henn, I spent last summer in Germany, England and Ireland and naturally, on my 16th birthday, I was in the one country were I couldn’t get a nice glass of wine (or champagne! Even better) to celebrate with. I didn’t actually buy any alcohol while I was in Europe, which was dumb of me. (: We Americans are too puritanical when it comes to alcohol. Europe has better statistics on drunk driving and stuff like that than we do.

Has everyone heard? I did not get a confirmation either way but i’m guessing that means rejection?

true, we europeans are much more relaxed when it comes to alcohol. But the main problem at least in my region and age group is hashish. That’s what happens when the dutch border is just a few miles away where it’s all legal to buy 5 g a day and because of professional growing the THC content reaches up to 50%.

PS Everyone, they’ve sent out rejection letters. So if you get an envelope from Telluride, don’t get too excited… ):

CASP App:

That bird is me in disguise. Stick around for the end…or you shall regret.

You need to think deeply to interpret this.

'ello 'ello people. and wink ::hug::

I return from B&N, where the cookies are the size of your head and studying is almost impossible due to the incessant playing of crap music like daughtry over the intercoms. I mean, seriously, It’s a BOOK STORE, why would you play loud music.

Hey Donny. Ugh, I am so full from dinner still… The fish was about a whole foot long. So… Much… Omega 3 fatty acids… dies

Has anyone who received a letter naming them as a finalist actually scheduled their interview yet?

Yeah, I was wondering about that…
should I call in and ask them? or will that make me look impatient? >:E
