Telluride Association Summer Program ( TASP ) 2008

Thanks for calling, Mshen. I was FREAKING out. Ahhhh I just want to knowwwwwwwwwww

i <3 you, mshen! :D

on the downside… we still don’t know.
monday is sooo far away! ):

At least you got away without giving your name ;)

Hahah, no problem, guys. Sadly, this just made me more nervous for the acceptance (or rejection) letters. A week is too long!!

By the way, for those of you who did it last year. What was the living arrangement like?

Now that my practice IB exams are over, this week is going to be painfully long. I read through posts in last years TASP thread. Agonizing. I can’t wait to find out.

ahh. do you think we’ll have to wait for the letters, or will they let us know if we call them? >.<

Well, we can’t call them until the 28th, but yes, we can call them then.

when we visited the TASP house last year they had separate floors, I cant remember if they were two to a room but it depends on how much space they have i guess. also TASP they moved around a little. i know in tasp we had roommates and one side of the hall was one seminar and the other side the second michigan seminar.

Not to be too nosy, but where are people thinking of applying for college?

no college for me
straight to the NBA.

COLUMMBIAAAAA!!!

And, when I get rejected, Barnard College.

panicpower, one other question: do you get a lot of freedom to move around the city and stuff? what do people usually do when there aren’t seminars?

michigan
cornell

anywhere else where they decide to build a telluride house <3

since there is so much TASP excitement…
is anyone here interested in deep springs college?

@mshen: actually i think the lady you called was right… during my interview, the guy who interviewed me said that the decisions would be made when they all got together during “the last weekend of april”… and he said he was one of the people on the decisions committee too. =S (scary much!? haha) sooo actually our fates are still not decided until after this weekend. :stuck_out_tongue:
best of luck to everyone!

mshen: IF I remember correctly the TASPers had to be in the house by 1 AM might have been later. They could move around freely within the city by whatever means of transportation; they just couldn’t use their own cars. Responsibility lay with the student. Unless there was something already planned or pub-speaks they were free to wander around. The factotum is not going to force you to do your work because you know what you came to TASP for. Besides that your imagination is the limit I guess… as long as it is legal.

Xavier (or w/e his nickname is):Thinking of Cornell, UPenn, U of Chicago, Duke, and Johns Hopkins.

panic: that responsibility is so intimidating. i wonder if anyone’s gotten wasted and had to go to a seminar with a hangover the next day XD

Now TASP is the only thing left on my anticipation list. Student Government elections are over (successfully!) and aside from a short chem test on thursday there’s nothing that really left to distract me.

Ha. Ha ha. Nothing distracting. Ha. Two tests (one in Killer Physics), an essay, SAT math cramming, track, whipping along the Environmental Club until we finish (and start) our final project for the year, and a lifeguarding course that will require me to basically live at the YMCA for the entire weekend (plus Friday afternoon). Next week, more tests I’m sure, the due date for an application for a fiercely competitive local summer internship due (which I don’t want to send in until I get my TASP verdict), SATs (one of only 2 chances for my early decision college application), track, and another weekend lived entirely at the YMCA. Did I mention SATs? Yeah; I totally can identify, illuminar.

What position were you elected to?

Co-President :D

Student Government is a huge body at our school. There are different “ministries” (world involvement, community involvement, school spirit, student teacher appreciation etc etc) that all carry out projects, and the Co-Presidents are kind of the administrative backing behind the ministries.

This year I was a “minister of volunteerism” and we organized a run for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, gift wrapping at the mall during the holidays for a children’s hospital, and recently we did a fundraiser for the Canadian Cancer Society that raised over 11 g’s.

It’s definitely going to be stressful, but worth it haha
