Telluride Association Summer Program ( TASP ) 2008

Yes, Monday. Read the 2007 thread.

So what’s the consensus? Who is going to call on Monday and who is going to wait for the email?

Why on Earth would anyone wait for the e-mail if they knew about calling? I’ll be dialing in at 7:01. :)

I’m going to be waiting stoically.

Why? Don’t you hunger for the terrible, gnawing pain that is a TASP rejection? I’ll have my probable rejection promptly, with mustard.

By the way, I’m watching a show about how magic tricks are performed, and it’s awesome. It’s on Fox Reality if anybody wants to watch - “Breaking the Magician’s Code”.

can anyone imagine what it must be like for the TASP administrator who has to say “i’m sorry, but frankly you aren’t good enough to get in” ???

…I can imagine what it’s like to be the kid told that, and I’m hoping it will stay in Imaginationland. Besides, all 140 of the finalists are good enough - but there continues to be only 68 spots, so they can’t just take the “good enough”.

Oh man. So when does the office open? I think I’ll be calling as soon as I wake up. And since I’m central time I technically have an hour of advantage. ; )

I wish us ALL good luck, 'cause even for the best of us, we really do sort of need it. :D

Mihan, it’s no good calling at 7 your time if it’s still 6 in Ithaca. And between TASP and the Physics test tomorrow that I couldn’t study for because I had to finish Envirothon stuff (our competition’s Wednesday), I need luck badly, badly, badly.

Edit: Add another badly. I just got rejected from another (competitive, always competitive) summer thing. I must have some horrible distortive perception disease that makes me think I did well at interviews when I didn’t.

Just think of it this way, guys: We’re all obviously FAR too emotionally invested in TASP, so we might as well charge forward and find out our results rather than huddle like sheep and try to avoid the death blow that can’t be dodged if it comes. Call in! Clog the phone lines!

" 'Cause Mama says it doesn’t matter
If you’re a king or you’re a clown
Once you drive up a mountain
You can’t back down."

I listened to a Footloose song to cheer myself up. Dear Lord, you made the weekend-before-TASP too long.

We bombed Envirothon - spent about 3 hours on our presentation total and studied on our way there. HA. I shall be spending my weekend celebrating my birthday with my friends in a semi-end of the year sleep over (aka gossip and chocolate).

Oh, oops! I thought it was the other way around. Meh - oh well. I’ll just call during my 1st period open.

Well, Karajanhra, for me, this summer is either getting accepted into TASP, being one of the top 8 flutists in the US (shiver much for both) or molding at home. Feel lucky.

danggg. one of the top 8 flutist in the states??! o_O
niceeee

just curious, which seminar did you prioritize, mihan??

and just how many tasp-hopefuls are lurking in this thread? estimates, anyone?

Last year, about 1/3 to 1/2 of all the TASPs was either on CC beforehand or lurking and emerged after decisions. The UMich population here was huge.

You know, it just kinda hit me how pathetic we really are (me more than you guys, cuz you guys are actually participating in a conversation while I’m mostly just lurking).

TASP has made us so…lame, for lack of a better word. We’re clinging on to each other for dear life and huddling together on an online discussion board.

But, hey, I think most of us on this board are going to make it. The fact that we’re so obsessed shows our dedication and commitment, right?
Right?
RIGHT, TASP GODS???

Mshen is right haha
I hope you’re right about most of us getting in, but it’s out of our hands. They’ll do a good job and form fine groups.
But yeah, the tasp tin god better likes my sacrifices, or he’ll end up in the fire place…

seriously… i probably spend more time on this thread than i do on HOMEWORK. even when i know no one’s posted anything, i find myself continuously checking. heck, this site is my current HOMEPAGE…

it’d be like 50-Christmas’s-at-once, if all of us CC TASPlicants made it. it’s a dream… but dreams can come true! (ohgod. now i’m resorting to corny cliches… )

hahah. Deadaim it’s IF I am one of the top 8, I won’t mold at home. Currently I am nothing, as far as I know.

Oh man. Going to go celebrate birthday now. Au revoir! I shall be back on Sunday night.

This is crazy; today was the last school day I and everyone else who calls Monday will go (hopefully) without knowing if we’ve been accepted to Heaven - TASP, I mean. I was sitting in chemistry this morning and this popped into my mind: “The next time I sit in this seat, I’ll have either the key to the golden city of Joyness or a near-fatal broken heart.”

Gah that is such a depressing thought. I’m currently under the impression that I’ve been rejected by Questbridge because I haven’t gotten an email and today is judgement day. I mean it is not as serious as TASP but it would be nice. Either way it is the weekend, let us all concentrate and meditate on that.

Can’t. I’ll be living at the YMCA until 10 at night both days for lifeguarding, which proves that The Red Cross lifeguarding section hates the SATs (next weekend) and people who test out of economics (exam Thursday, don’t know anything). Plus I have to write an essay for that internship. Plus I have to build a bridge for Physics. (sigh) A CCer’s lot is not a happy one. You know, unless you’re silly enough to consider those starving Ethiopians or Iraqi refugees.
