Telluride Association Summer Program ( TASP ) 2008

yeah it’s somehow far far away in my mind although it’s less than a month. But at the moment it looks like getting in was just like switching the light on, whereas in reality we passed a really hard selection process.
I mean, who seriously believed he/she would get in for sure when you submitted your app?

the thing is, Henn, I had no idea when I submitted my app that TASP was so selective. You can imagine my horror after learning about the 9% acceptance rate online, thanks to College Confidential. Haha I’m so flipping happy to meet everyone.

How much time did you guys spend on writing your essays? I basically killed the last two nights before they were due just re- and rewriting them…

Officially rejected as of today. I was expecting it by now though.

I was actually really surprised to get in. I wrote 2 of my essays at like 3 hours before the midnight deadline.

I was googling TASP when I found this site. I’m a Cornell I person.

In response to Topspinwu - I plan on bringing my racket.

Hello everyone.

I discovered this thread a bit late, sorry - I’m Mehves, I’m from Istanbul and I’m attending Cornell I. I just learned I cannot fly in with my double bass, which is too bad  But otherwise I’m soo excited!!
-Could any of the New York cab-sharers pm me? That would really help. Thanks (:

turkey yeah! finally another international tasper :)

lol henn G.

why are all the people on here going to Cornell?

Because it ROCKS and is going to be the best TASP EVER EVER EVER!
(Thus, overwhelming us with excitment and forcing us to talk about it!)

Whoo! I’m so glad we’re finally representing Cornell I on this thread. I’ve seen four (4) Cornell I-ers. It’s so weird being in the program now, finally. I remember IMing Henning for hours before we got our letters, freaking out about whether we would make it and reassuring each other. I’m so glad I get to meet everybody. It’s a month from today…that’s so strange to think about.

lol 09910745

yeah, sarah, it’s still like a dream to me  Take a quote from Matrix (Part 1): “Have you ever had a dream … that you were so sure was real?”
This is the dream.

I know I’ll sit among you awesome people and at one point think: a few month ago this was only a hope with horrible odds.
Especially the fact that I spent $ 82 just for express mail to send in my transcript on time for the first round was risky. But now I’m sure it was an investment of a lifetime :)

lol yeah germany!! two internationals as of now, then (:

Haha. This is really surreal. I was standing in line at the post office at 4:50 pm with $4.50 on the 22nd of January, thinking, “If I am not at the front of this line in 10 minutes, the last 16 hours of writing will have been for nothing, and I will surely cry.”

I did not expect to get in. At all. That’s really amusing to me. And the Morpheus quote is appropriate, I think. Haha.

The day of the interview, I had a huge invitational. (Swimming). And I had to make a two hour drive to LA to do it. Funny, I’m changing in a parking garage, with huge red circles brazen around my eyes, and thinking about the comedic hopelessness of the whole situation. I sit down, after being offered hot pockets by the interviewers, to another two hours of traversing and arguing. It was awful. Anyone get a whole ****load of hypothetical questions posed to them? Anything involving the John Birch Society?

One of the interviewers, Cam Jones, was chewing the whole time, too. A spitter and everything. Hilarious.

It was like intellectual torture.

And when it was over, they told me that TWO of the four people that they had interviewed that day had cried. I was glad I had not. Haha.

Ahh, you had the same interviewers! Did they offer you the fish porridge? Wait…maybe I saw you that day? What time/day was your interview? Oh…I was one of the two that cried. However, mine was a good crying apparently, because afterwards they totally broke down and we bonded. Do you happen to remember the other interviewer’s name?

You had multiple interviews/interviewers? Wow that mustve been intense!!

You cried… WOW! What did they do?
Well mine was on the phone and the interviewer was overly friendly ( tony can confirm that…) which irritated me horribly. I constantly thought " she is too friendly, there has to be something horribly wrong ".

Naturally, I was haunted by “I could have said this and this differently” thoughts for the next days. Moreover, we crazed each other even more on this thread. But the last round cut away more than half of all the remaining active posters, thus the thread basically died for a few weeks

Anyone else arriving in Austin ~1200pm?
