Yeah…I thought it was funny when Brad called the scoreboard a “frozen pizza”

Speaking of frozen, those two guys must both be in ice baths right now. Amazing.

I can’t believe that after playing for 7 hours today that this match still isn’t over. There have been matches that have taken days to complete, but those have been due to weather delays. This is crazy!

I give them both a standing O!

Just awesome 59-59…

I have a theory here. I think that under normal circumstances, either player would take calculated risks, come to the net, change up his attack with some lower-percentage shots to keep his opponent guessing. But with as long as this has gone, as desperately as neither man wants to lose after coming this far, as with booming serves and competent ground strokes on both sides, the two have settled into conservative, transparent patterns of big serve and baseline strokes in the hope that the other will give the match away on mistakes. I can come up with no other suggestion for how two world-class players can possibly alternate winning games 59 times in a row.

Regardless, neither man has blinked, neither has backed off his strategy, and neither has gotten sloppy. Isner in particular, at 6’9" and 240 pounds, must be an amazingly conditioned athlete to keep exerting himself at this level. Long after we all forget who wins this year’s titles, this Wimbledon will be remembered for these two players.

I hope that the Queen comes over to watch once Andy Murray’s match ends. :)

Andy Murray wrapped early, so Her Majesty has left. Evidently she mentioned the match to Federer and others at lunch (as well as Federer’s challenging first match!). Since she’s not a tennis fan, we can assume she is well coached on the recent buzz. Lots of fans crowded to see her exit after she met Murray and Neimenen, but evidently Court 18 has had fans stake out seats from the opening to see the resumption of Isner/Mahut. I hope Brad Gilbert’s prediction that it will be quick and that Mahut will be hurt by the stomach issue is true. Go Isner!!!

I’m rooting for Isner of course but I will really HATE to see either of them lose at this point. Both have been such good sports and have poured their heart and soul into this match. I’ll try to watch at 10:30…is there a place I can watch online for free?

I think you can watch it stream on ESPN.

I don’t know if it’s much of a consolation to Mahut, but I thought it was nice that they got gifts at the end of the match.

Thanks 2v…found it on espn3. Nice that Isner made some great shots at the end (vs mistakes or bad calls determining the match). I liked the gifts too! Mahut is a classy guy

Wow. 70-68. Incredible.

I’m wondering what the gifts were. They each got two things and one of the umpire’s was so thin that it looked like it must be a tie. The neatest thing would be if they put up a bronze plaque outside the court commemorating the match with the names and score. I did love the result except I hurt for Mahut. He showed such class.

I felt badly for Mahut also. He wanted nothing more than to retire to the locker room, but he had to answer questions on-court & pose for pictures by the scoreboard. Both players handled themselves with class.

Regardless of all the history and hoopla, the only true reason that Wimbledon is such a big deal is because it matters so much to the players. In demonstrating how much this match mattered to them, Isner and Mahut have honored Wimbledon as well as themselves.

How incredibly fitting. LOL.

They are replaying today’s portion on ESPN2 now, and it occurs to me that this could be the only part we’ll see in replays, because even if there comes a rainy day at Wimbledon (and there will), there will never be enough time to show the match in its entirety.

I would like to see a Roddick/Nadal match or a Roddick/Federer repeat match in the final this year.

Now centre court has a roof, the days of replays while it rains are over.
