Tennis.....

I began playing tennis at the beginning of my freshman year, i am going to be a sophomore and i made the tennis varsity team(school has a graduating class of 1000, so extremely competitive to make varsity teams). I am playing about 2 hours a day throughout the year. I am naturally good at the sport, not trying to brag, but wondering if i will be good enough to do some junior tournaments by the end of 11th grade? My only e.c. related to tennis is being on my schools varsity team, but what else can i do? Thanks

additional information: Over this summer i wanted to go into a training program or an academy of some sort to get better, but they were all too expensive and lacked proper financial aid. I am just playing with my friends on the team over the summer, who had private lessons and are teaching me.

Six months to one year and on VARSITY?? That’s pretty impressive. However, at my school all the kids on varsity play national tournaments and are nationally ranked already… so if what you say is true, maybe your school isn’t actually that competitive in tennis. I’d say, either way, definitely enter a tournament. Hey, you may get beaten badly, but at least you will know where you stand. You might do well!

A note of caution: Tournaments are generally kind of expensive (30 to 50 dollars to enter one). If training is too expensive, these are definitely cheaper since tournaments last a few weeks, but if you get knocked out in the first round it may not be worth it for you.
