Terrible Counselors?

Any horror stories involving terrible counselors not helping you? I’m curious!

My story: My counselor mixed my schedule up with a girl that had the same last name as me, yelled at me for “accusing” her of doing that (my teacher even told me that my counselor told some of my teachers she accidentally mixed up our schedules), and also yelled at me for going to another counselor, because during the allotted time for my appointment with her, she went and got food because she “forgot”. I also was yelled at by a lady running the counseling desk because I was waiting patiently for my counselor, and since no one told me my counselor was getting food, I waited for about 20 mins, and apparently I was “truant”!

Also! She couldn’t figure out how to fix my schedule when I moved around a few classes, and I had to actually go to her computer and input my own schedule in. I love incompetence!

If I were in your scenario, I would probably bring it up with my parent (and the Principal – though I’m close with her). The way your counselor acted seemed unprofessional.

If you will get in trouble for that so-called “truancy,” I would probably appeal. You should have been informed that your counselor wasn’t there.

If you need to go to another counselor, go for it. If the other counselor is going to be more beneficial for your schedule, who cares if the other one yells at you for doing so?
