Tesla 3

And the critic eats crow for dinner:

My delivery appointment is scheduled for Wednesday morning. I’m excited but a little nervous - maybe read too many horror stories on the Tesla forum.

Question - the website is prompting me to make my payment, which I’m prepared to do via ACH. But it seems like others are saying not to pay before taking delivery, and using a cashiers check to do so. Unfortunately the bank with my funds isn’t local, so that won’t work. Alternatively, the dealer said during my call to them last week that I could actually pay with a personal check - I was surprised but don’t think he was joking. I suppose it’s also possible to initiate the ACH from my phone after I check out the car, but the funds won’t clear for a day or two - no idea if that’s a problem for Tesla. Thoughts?

just picked up my second M3 last Wednesday. Paid by ACH. Love both cars.

I was under the impression that they would NOT take a person check, but I’ve read on the tesla blog that some did process the ACH at delivery. (Not sure how that common that is.)

We wrote an old fashioned check at the dealership when we picked up our X! They were fine with it.

Now we know why we love our EV. Spent 20 minutes in line at the gas station at Costco to fill up the truck. OMG, thank goodness we only have to fill the beast up once in a couple of months. Love the freedom of plugging our X in the garage.

I’m really irked at Tesla right now. Apparently 2 weeks ago they changed things such that anyone could start designing their car online. I was never notified of this. You would think that a first-day customer waiting for 2+ years would get notified at minimum by email. Anyhow, apparently the full tax rebate still will be good for a couple of more months so I’m deciding now whether $60K for something I don’t really need is worth it or not.

Professor, we both got emails form Tesla. About a month ago. Check your junk box or maybe your email setting are too secure.

Anyone can configure, but current reservations folks will get delivery priority

Professor: Tesla opened up the ordering at the end of June, and that was announced prominently.

I was a line waiter, and configured June 28. I received a delivery date two weeks later.

My 3 is at the service center. List of mostly stupid stuff for them to address. I have a Tesla S loaner. Makes me realize I prefer the 3

^^a P? If so, take it to the track. hahaha

What’s a P? My DS is waiting for the release of the Tesla Y. Its 2 years away!

“We” (actually, one of us) are waiting for a Tesla pickup. Rolleye. Can’t imagine having stumps and gravel in a $120k personal vehicle!!!

Well my 3 is in the shop for a few days. I am driving an S loaner.

the P stands for Performance model of the S.

Childish but funny. Watch the video.

There is a performance model of the 3 as well.

The September 2018 edition of Consumer Reports just arrived and in it is a review of the Tesla 3. Overall, pretty decent review, giving it a score of 77 overall. The one knock that stood out was the back seat. They said it was too low and did not provide adequate back of knee support. What say you who have taken delivery or have sat in one? Edit: They said the front seats were excellent.

I haven’t parked myself in the back seat, but we have had a passenger who didn’t complain. As for the front, I find them a little weird. I feel like I am too far over to the left and have to adjust to feel comfortable.

I sent a photo of the CR comparison page with the Nissan Leaf to DS who bought that instead and gave me his reservation. Interestingly the overall ratings weren’t that different, but the ratings of the ride were.

Got my Model 3 today (haven’t sat in the back seat yet). Front seemed fine to me in the hour or so I’ve spent thus far. Pretty amazing car - smoothest acceleration I’ve ever experienced. Going to spend the weekend getting to know it, but so far, so good.

By the way, I paid with a personal check with no issues whatsoever.

I have sat in the back seat with H for brief rides in friend’s 3. It’s OK, but it was only for short rides (under 15 minutes), no idea about longer drives. Probably not much room for a 5th person in the S. Our friend, the owner loves it and her S—she and her H love the way they drive and low maintenance. H and I aren’t used to the front seats and have bumped our heads several times getting in and out. :frowning:

Wow, @RandyErika - I had to get a cashiers check. THe estimate was $5 and change off. They took a personal check for the $5 and change :-*
