after Elon spoke with CR a couple of months ago, he put more padding into both the front and back seats.
Did he stuff the seats with cash?
@jshain Our backseat is pretty low. I’m 5’7” and it’s not that comfortable for me. But honestly the car is so cool that it doesn’t matter. The premium audio sounds much better than our golf r and Acura MDX. It’s 15 speakers I believe.
One feature of the Tesla 3 I’ve noticed is that calls made using the handsfree sound like you’re talking in a cave and have an echo. I don’t notice that echo so much in other vehicles. It keeps conversations VERY short because they are very irritating to the caller that’s not in the car.
Good. No one NEEDS to yak on the phone while driving. Hands-free yakking is just as distracting as hands on calls.
nope, no cash RandyE. (Elon was able to make the change quickly since they manufacture their own seats.)
My wife’s M3 has the newer seats and I must say, that I prefer the extra padding at least in the front. But then, I’m only 5’10", so someone taller may prefer the extra height instead of the padding.
I have not sat in the back seat yet, and have no plans to do so. If the kids don’t like it, there’s always the bus.
Model 3 is not marketed as a family sedan anyway. There is the X for that.
Wondering how roomy the Y will be?
When did they do the seat improvement? Not sure if i have it
My second M3 has a VIN of 32xxx, and it has the Gen2 seats.
My vin is 40XXX. When did you take delivery?
I picked up a few weeks ago.
Wow, I got mine a month ago, and our vin #s are so far apart!
my bad: my VIN is 36xxx (timed out and could not edit)
My VIN is 41XXX, and I picked it up today as mentioned earlier. I’m 6’1”, so I’ll pay more attention to the seats as I get more comfortable with the car. Frankly I was so fascinated by the regenerative breaking and the smooth acceleration that I was oblivious to everything else - except the cool monitor next to me, I suppose.
Still… guess they were cranking out those cars! Which ones were built in the tent they put up?
Got pulled over and given a warning today. Oops
Serves me right for getting a red car. That didn’t take long. Of course, all the officer kept saying was “beautiful car”. I think he just wanted to see the car. I couldn’t possibly have been exceeding the speed limit.
Have you tried the Model 3 Easter eggs yet?
Anyone look for low interest rates lately? I’m still irked at Tesla for not notifying me about my Model 3 config being available, but I figure I’ll still get it anyways as I’m not in a big hurry except to beat the deadline for 100% tax credit. Interest rates sure have gone up in the last 9 months. Looking for something 36 months.
Rates are very state-specific. I believe you need to configure your car first; only then the banks will quote you their interest rates. Any credit unions in your area that you can check with and join if you get a good rate?
I also highly recommend poking around Tesla forums. Lots of very useful information there.
