@texasmom7 it has been several years, but I do think a ‘button’ or link will appear, when it fully opens. Just keep refreshing/checking, have credit card handy.
As far as major, Blinn TEAM will be the major, but the Arts & Sciences is probably the track/pathway. I think?
If anyone student/parent that received TEAM is upset about it or has questions, please reach out on here or start a thread. I have NEVER talked to a Team student who didn’t enjoy/appreciate their time in the program. There is zero stigma to it. Noone knows you’re on team and if they did, they definitely wouldn’t care.
Now if you’re OOS and it’s a tuition thing, then I get that.
There’s a dedicated FB page just for TEAM parents. It can be a great wealth of info-how to navigate bus system, which classes to look out for, how to understand tuitions, etc.
If you go into manage applications and it has your first choice major listed but the word lower in parentheses behind it what does that mean? We are still waiting response with top 13% ranking and August 1 application. So frustrated we applied months ago and nothing and have scholarships waiting at other schools but can’t move forward with anything.
@89Ag not sure what you mean about a word in parentheses? Do you/your student have 7 tabs yet?
What majors were applied for? With test scores or test optional?
No 7 tabs yet….but lists Major PHTL - Public Health (Lower) - not sure what the lower means if anything. We submitted test scores and they were on low side 1170 but she is straight A’s with many rigorous AP and DC classes and more than likely pulling in top ten percent this senior year as loaded up…which is so tragic they won’t consider the pull in to top 10. We have scholarships offers at two other large colleges but her heart was set on A&M….Aggie mom here torn….this has been excruciating process! She has leadership and many volunteer hours.
Ahhh (lower). Assuming that just means something to the effect of ‘incoming, just starting out’, like not enough hours to take (upper) level classes.
Did A&M give student 1st or 2nd Quarter ranking?
SAT is definitely on the low end, but this is where true ‘holistic’ scoring could help. They can see Sr year courses taken, class rank, they’ll know the rigor of the school, etc.
If not Top Ten%, or close to it with very high test scores, A&M decisions are normally January-February. There are THAT many holistic applicants. Hang in there…easier said than done.
But YAY for other solid offers AND scholarships!
@89Ag if I were guessing…and I’m simply a parent…sounds like she’s a great candidate for Gateway. But then she could also get offered PSA…hard to tell!
If she gets an email about selecting TEAM, Waitlist or Both, absolutely select TEAM. Those that select Wait List might not hear a decison until March.
Be VERY familiar with all A&M pathways-
Gateway, Blinn TEAM, Opportunity Major and PSA.
Do you feel Gateway is superior to Blinn Team offer? What are the advantages to Gateway vs Blinn Team (other than just one summer)? If BIMS and Biology are 1st/2nd major, what pathway do you feel is best if given the opportunity?
@AggieLove IMO Gateway is hands down the best offer! 2nd summer session and they’re in. Great transition, I think 2 classes are taken.
Gateway very small, students live in one dorm, a strong sense of ‘community’ with very similar students.
Only downside to Gateway-that is see-it isn’t cheap. Summer school at A&M is pricey…but they have such a smooth transition into fall and most enter with a 4.0…it is worth it!
I believe if student is successful/fulfils Gateway requirements, they enter A&M as General Studies; then take pre-reqs to change into their major choice.
