Do we know if there is a cap as to the number of students offered Gateway or TEAMs? And if so, is there a way to get a sense of how many of those spots have already been offered?
I guess I’m curious what happens to the student who shows up in the summer, is somehow overwhelmed by college, and get’s very poor grades. Does A&M then not admit them for the Fall? And the student is left trying to find Fall admission somewhere, perhaps having already told the other colleges who accepted them they weren’t planning to attend since they got an A&M Gateway offer? My kid won’t get a Gateway offer, and I assume it’s a very low risk a student qualified enough to get that offer would somehow bomb their summer classes, but it’s still a paranoid fear I would have.
Hi! My child was in Gateway. It’s a very low risk program. I think the success rate is over 95%. There is plenty of academic support for those who need it and the director is wonderful!
Gateway, TEAM and TEAB all are considered admitted (in admitted data) and full transition rate has been very high.
Below is admitted data.
There’s our stats guy! TY
Good points! I guess there is a chance of not successfully completing Gateway and being left to hunt for another college so late. The threshold is low (2.0), but you never know. These are some hard decisions.
My highest science, probably regular physics. Math is pre calc, as I couldn’t take alebra in middle school to advance or anything
Does gateway have the dual credit limitation that team Blinn has? I.e. can students with lots of dual credit qualify for gateway?
@HowBoutDemBoyz only having PreCal is going to hurt your chances of getting Engineering, certainly a ‘full offer in College Station’, as you asked about.
@FriscoDad can you weigh in here, you’re the Engineering expert
I took the time to read almost the entire 2027 thread last night…if we’re on the same pace it looks like we’re almost to “option time.” We’re praying for a Team Blinn or Gateway offer here.
I saw that too…wish he would share his stats! Several people have asked, so maybe those are coming!
I’ve seen others stating it appears the current admission cycle is running ahead of past years, and many have received TEAM offers over the past 2 weeks. We personally have friends whose kids got offers in February in past years but if the admission process is ahead of schedule this year it makes me worry (no offer yet for our kid).
Separate topic above: if PSA or TEAM doesn’t lead to full admit, it’s “easy” to stay at PSA feeder school, or Blinn, or transfer somewhere else with time to plan. If Gateway didn’t work out for some reason, it just seems like a real scramble between July and late August to go to the next school since all the “major” schools we have backup offers from would have shut down admissions.
Are you talking about the stats for the person that reported getting TEAB this morning on reddit? If so, from his prior posts, it looks like he was a top 10% admit but had a low math score on the SAT (620) so maybe TAMU felt this was his best option for success.
@TamFam if a student isn’t successful in the Gateway program, they most likely wouldn’t be successful anywhere else…my $.02 worth.
Min gpa 2.0 and I think only 2 classes taken? Campus is empty, they’re all housed in 1 dorm together, eat together, have plenty of support, no clubs or orgs to be distracted by. They’re literally taking (pretty easy) classes, having constant support from friends and Gateway staff.
Gateway is definitely the golden offer, designed for student success.
In the past years threads, the “option time” thing was certainly a run-on-the-house on posts in this thread. A lot of asking the leaders “This just happened to me, what do I do?” We’ve seen none of that option related stuff this year at all. Unless they disposed of it, which I’d say we all have no reason to believe they did, then it’s likely imminent. Last year it was 1/31 when it all started to go down…and those who chose correctly all got admitted on 2/15.
I think I have heard that the TEAM program is around 500 students? I think it will be next week that the offers come out!
TEAM or TEAB? TEAM offers have been coming out for a couple of weeks now.
That’s good to know, it does sound great for the students who get in, and I tend to think of worst case scenario. Also, I’m someone who treated my first semester at A&M as if I was at a summer camp and ended up with a 1.5 GPA that semester. I went on to finish over 3.0 and got a Chemical Engineering degree, but if I had been made to get a 2.0 to stay on campus that first semester would have been a disaster for me - for life. One key difference is I knew I didn’t really have to get a specific GPA to stay around for another semester, and when I needed to perform I matured and did it. From everything I’ve read, Gateway is a golden ticket everyone should be thrilled to get, it’s just planning for some summer school that might come as a surprise.
If having Calculus AB/BC in 12th grade that’s still fine.
TEAB in the past is not a one-batch release. If your check this forum for the past few years, it stretched through end of Feb.
TEAB is just like full admit, some fully admitted students in NSC even asked if they could take classes at Blinn Rellis (save tuition), NSC hosts of course flat out said no. TEAB can only be offered.
