Texas A&M Class of 2028 Official Thread

I’d want Gateway before TEAM. Gateway is taking two core classes and two non-core classes over five weeks in the summer, and getting at least a 2.0. Aggie Gateway to Success | Texas A&M University

how does the summer program require 15k?

@Famfam123 Gateway is the top/preferred pathway, hands down. Summer courses they take aren’t difficult (not ‘weed out’ courses). Program is designed for success.

Does anyone have any info on the School of Education and Human Development? Have you heard of TEAM offers going out to those majors yet? I heard of one Sport Management major being offered TEAM, but I wondered where that school is in the admissions process? TIA!

Am I wrong? I had that on a link, and now can’t find the link!!!

6 credit courses + 5w R&B…

LMK if you find the exact $ pls!

You have to take 2 of these and they aren’t for credit - not challenging. They will assign you the core classes, it looks like. I read somewhere that it’s not math - and seems to be set up that they are entry-level classes. Hope this helps and congratulations on Gateway!

This is what I assume is the cost of Gateway, as it is 6 credits. Please correct me if I’m wrong. OOS looks like @15k

Ahhh got it. I’d only gotten as far as checking out the rent in the designated housing for them. I absolutely hear you on this for the cost for OOS students. It’s fantastic you’ve got some direct admit to majors in your pocket -makes a huge difference. Thanks for the chart!

Also, looks like Summer Term II starts July 3rd, which is less than 2 weeks from our high school graduation, ugh

My son was offered the TEAM options under School of Education yesterday. But now he wants to switch to Statistics  I am hoping we can do this once he is officially into TEAM.
Has anyone had any experience with switching pathways once admitted to TEAM? @suedawg95 Good luck!!

I was traveling today and have missed out on this chatter regarding Gateway, Team, Change of major, etc. etc.

Here’s what I know. Gateway is by far the better offer over TEAM when it comes to academics because you literally start at TAMU, take 2 classes (you choose them with your advisor). They are core classes like a creative arts, history, pols etc. Then you take 2 non credit classes that help you with time mgmt, study habits, resources that tamu offers, etc. These are fantastic. You also get the lay of the land for 4.5 weeks in the summer before 50+k students arrive and muddy the waters. 2.0 is easy to achieve and close to 100% of students successfully move into the Fall semester in General studies. You’ll work with your advisor on the right path to get into the major you want. As mentioned, some majors are harder(more requirements) than others. NOW, financially… Gateway… not so blessed. It is pricey.

As for change of major for traditional students at tamu. You do not have to transfer into General studies in order to apply to change your major. You just can’t be a closet major (meaning, you have to continue to take classes related to your current major). For my son, he did Econ first. We worked his degree plan so that everything he took, also fit the degree plan for Mgmt in Mays. When he applied to change major he had a 3.83 and all required courses taken. Had a B in Math 142, rest were A’s. He applied January 2nd and was admitted january 3rd. There was no wait. Simple online (in Howdy) application. They take very little into consideration. It’s mainly grades and required courses. Hope that helps.

For TEAM… it’s about 1 to 2 year commitment. Mays does have a guaranteed pathway for it though, so that’s a bonus. Some majors do, some don’t. You also don’t have to complete your
TEAM contract and can apply as straight transfer once you meet “transfer” guidelines (different from TEAM requirements).

I’m happy to help answer any questions on this whole thing. It is confusing. I have helped literally 100s transfer or change majors successfully. This is a passion of mine.

Shouldn’t be a problem. Once it’s all official, have him get with TEAMs advisor so it’s squared away when you go to New student conference at tamu.

Hello! My son applied for Mays Business School.

Today his Howdy portal changed to 7 tabs (good I think?) but now states General Studies and Summer start.

Can anyone give me any details on this, and am I correct in saying that he should get his acceptance in the next day or two but for GS?

Thank you! Wasn’t sure if it was the same thing. Honestly I am surprised at his admission, but super excited for him. Now to convince him summer is a good option!

Thank you guys. One more question: If you are not given the 3 options (TEAM/Waitlist/Both), can you still be offered TEAM (specifically wondering about Sport Management majors)?

If I’m remembering correctly (and I may be wrong so someone please weigh in if I am)… Once we get to the 3 options, Team is pretty much done. This week coming up will probably be the last time we would hear of any straight TEAM offers (meaning… no options, just TEAM). Come February, we should start hearing about PSA and those that chose TEAM only option.

Engineering options should be coming soon too.

There is usually only one round of GATEWAY offers.

Don’t ya just love how I have qualifiers in my statements? lol I promise it’s only because TAMU can change things up at any time. I’m simply going off past cycles.

@Christi1993 Can you look at my message from earlier today and give me your thoughts? I appreciate your perspective.
